A beautiful vista point that gives amazing views of the surrounding mountains, beaches, islands, and forests. The road that leads to this point open from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM. The road till the top is gravel for 800 meter till the top parking lot, however the gravel is settled and very easy to drive even a small car up there. Parking is free, as it’s an unpaved circular park. At the top there are two paths, both lead to the same spot. One is paved while the other is gravel. If you take the right one, it has a smaller deck with a view of the cooks beach. If you continue the path you arrive at the main deck with amazing views and fair bit of information. It’s super calm here and you can hear the sound of sea and the birds. There are restrooms located next to the parking area. It’s a single restroom with a WC and sanitizer dispenser and no wash basin. There is also a trail leading to the cooks beach and lonely bay. The climb to the viewing deck is slightly steep but easily manageable. A nice drive up to amazing views so highly...

Pretty and well paved walk. Easy to access and walkable distance from Ferry Landing if travelling by ferry from Whitianga side. Allow a fair bit of time if you are taking it easy as there are plenty of spots to swim at the beach along the way as well as Eggcentric (a cafe/restaurant for food or coffee. Lonely bay (an extension of Shakespeare’s cliff walk is just a few minutes extra walk and is isolated and beautiful for a picnic and swim as well. Mr. 5 year old loves going up there and loves to spot and shade the very curious...

There are a few things that are must-do's when visiting Whitianga. Taking a trip to Shakespeare Cliff is one of them. Go on a beautiful clear blue sky day - the views are spectacular and you'll get some amazing photos. From here you can get views down to Lonely Bay, across to Simpsons Beach (on the left) and Cooks Beach (on the right). You can walk to here from Ferry Landing. There are two options to do this - either stick along the road, or go down to Flaxmill Bay beach where there is a path up the side...
