We stayed at 970 Lonely bay lodge for two nights on our New Zealand roadtrip. We got the warmest welcome from the Manager Anne, already when we parked our car outside the hotel. She showed us around in the house and told us everything we needed to know. It felt like visiting a friends house.||We stayed in the Atrium suite and had a nice bedroom with a very comfortable bed, a spacious bathroom, a big living room and a terrace at our own disposal. Outside was a wonderful garden, from which it took only 5-10 minutes to go down to the 1 km long Cooks beach.||In the morning Anne served us the most delicious breakfast with yoghurt, homemade granola and muesli, fruitsalad, newly baked croissants, eggs cooked to your preference, etc. We were sitting at the big kitchen table together with other guests.||Anne also helped out with very good suggestions on where to go, what to do, where to dine, and general information about the area. She also had input on our next stop of our roadtrip.||We want to give our warmest recommendations to stay at this lodge. We would love...
Read moreWe had a delightful 2 night stay at 970. Our welcome from Anne was warm and despite being a little late she managed to get us a reservation at a local restaurant 5 mins away which was wonderful. We were in the well appointed Atrium suite and being off season we pretty much had sole access to the ground floor of this gorgeous house and garden. The linens were very high quality, shower had good water pressure. The house is immaculate. A nice touch was the refreshments and flowers in our room. Breakfast in the morning was freshly made at a time to suit us and plentiful. The garden is beautifully kept and the gorgeous beach is a 5 minute stroll away. There were a variety of cds to play as we read books later in the afternoon after our day's adventures. A...
Read moreOur family of four stayed four marvelous nights at 970 Lonely Bay Lodge at the end of 2022 and it was our favorite lodge of the three weeks we spent in New Zealand. Anne was our host and she did everything to perfection. Breakfast was spot-on every day and since we had four of the five rooms, we almost had the run of the place. Despite being somewhat the oddballs (we hung around the house a lot more than most guests, I think) Anne was able to roll with our idiosyncrasies. Though the Coromandel has a lot to offer, Lonely Bay was so nice we were happy to laze away in the comfort we found there. We also had the pleasure of meeting Jane, the owner, who is a treasure to converse with. Don't pass...
