Stunning vista. I recommend the hill path up and the cliff path down. They start from the same point. The hill path is wide and quiet with no steps and you can gasp your way up in privacy. It does get a little tough towards the top but the surprise vista at the end makes it worthwhile. Plus a lot of people would miss the royal family memorial to Captain Cook which I thought was cool. Just keep right when you get to the top of the climb you'll see it. PS this is not the main lookout here, it's another 5 min walk from the royal memorial (down and to the left from there) - keep your eye out for the young Kauri tree planted by a previous NZ prime minister... Pro tip: there is a lovely hidden bench seat at the royal memorial (there are no other seats coming up). When you get there, turn around and its under the big tree. The lookout point was stunning and made the effort worthwhile. Words won't help in any way. The review rating speaks for itself.
