Peregrine Wines — Attraction in South Island

Had a really off putting experience at this winery. A dark-haired woman helped us. It was pretty obvious to both my husband and I that she was racist and that we were not given the same level of service as those around us. She didn't greet us. She didn't explain the wines with each pour. She didn't even tell us which wines she was pouring. Meanwhile others were greeted with a smile, were given apologies for any wait time, and had cheery explanations of the different wines. This experience left a very bad impression on us. One of their white wines had an interesting profile and my husband suggested we purchase a bottle as a souvenir but I said no. When you purchase wine from a different country, you want to remember your travels as you drink the bottle. I would rather not remember how I was treated here. Mostly lovely wines, lovely lady to guide us through it. However a few points lost to the following:

30$ for four wine tasters is rather steep, especially since you can't even sit down and relax for a while, luckily we later mentioned we were locals and so the price was cut in half and it became 15$. Should really be asked prior to starting the tasting if there is a locals price.

Also, unfortunately there was only one staff member, on a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon, which caused wait times plus the lady had to do different tastings at the same time, she did a wonderful job but should have had more support especially at peak times. Manar at Peregrine Wines in Central Otago was absolutely incredible! Despite us being a last-minute entry just before closing, she was so helpful and accommodating. She gave us plenty of time to enjoy the tasting experience and had our selections ready to go by the time we decided to leave. Her warm and welcoming nature made the visit unforgettable.
