Haast River Safari — Attraction in West Coast

The HAAST River Safari is an excellent adventure which we thoroughly recommend. The 1 hour ride up the Haast River in a fully enclosed jet boat was an amazing experience. The boat speeds up river and stops to view mountains, waterfalls, a waterfall canyon, and the fault line between the Pacific tectonic plate and the Indian-Australian tectonic plate! Amber’s commentary along the way was wonderful as she explained all about the natural environment and the pioneers of the region. This is a non-wet, eco tour that is a peaceful alternative to the thrill seeking shot over jets. The Haast jet boat was fun. Usually, the craft we were on has a 4.5-foot draft, but when the dual Chevy 350 big blocks got going, we skipped up the rapids and shallows at a draft of around 4.5 inches. During the tour we stopped at a few spots for photos, saw a 30lb chunk of greenstone.
