A must do hike if in Lofoten, this was the #1 hike I was looking forward to and the views delivered!

Soo...you must know about the stairs. There are just under 2,000 Sherpa steps to the top. These are not even. There are places to pull off and sit and rest on the way up. I am in shape, I am in 2 run clubs and do about 3 to 12 miles a week, and it was challenging but not terrible. It took me 1h15 mins to get to the top. Going down was much easier. Didn't need to stop at all. it was 65 when we went, so it was hot on the way up but very cold at the top. Being water and a jacket. It was also very windy, you didn't feel it much going up but you did on the top. it was a nice touch that they had someone from the national park at the entrance to the hike who was there to answer any questions you might have. parking: okay ...so plan on a mile walk to the hike. Yes, you heard me correctly! There is a pull off before and after the trailhead which is basically on top of a tunnel. You will see people walking along the highway to get there. These pull offs are free but good luck getting a spot! There is paid parking at the lofoten national Park visitors center but it is $15 for 3-5h. We parked there and there are free bathrooms. You pay before you leave, tell them you are there...

This was well worth the hike! We went in July and it was 58 degrees F. Shorts and a t shirt is perfect if you go mid-afternoon but early morning will definitely need a heavier jacket.

The steps are great and it's about 1950 to get to the best view. You can continue going past the stairs ending but just be careful.

I saw a lot of people on my way back down and I'd give a good warning that if you are not physically fit this is going to be very difficult. I saw way too many elderly people and it really isn't the place. I also saw some dangerous practices like parents strapping young kids like a backpack. One tumble and itll be very tough fall. Please be safe!

Great hike otherwise. We went at 730 am and it was empty. When we came down at 11 it was really busy so keep...

Review for families with younger kids: my kids are 9,7 and 4 and very experienced hikers. The hike up is not hard. Keep a good pace, take breaks and it’s worth it for the views. Our kids had a great time. I was worried when I read a review that said kids weren’t having a good time. I would say if your kids are not experienced and not dressed properly you will struggle. We went in July with sunny weather and hats and the kids were comfortable. I saw families starting the hike with sweaters and coats and I would say that’s too many layers and unnecessary weight. We usually hike with our youngest in a hiking backpack but it’s not possible for this hike that is steep and about 45 degrees at many points. FYI the trailhead is on google maps off of E10. Parking is a 10...
