Beautiful and popular lakeside area easily accessible from the Sognsvann TBane station..approx 700m walk to get to the lake. Great vibe.

People of all ages go there to relax, swim, run, walk, hike and mountain-bike in summer. In winter it is usually covered in snow/ice and there are runners, walkers, hikers, skiers and ice skaters.

The path around the lake is relatively flat and smooth compared with Oslo's regular hillside standard. It is thankfully lit at night and also thankfully, cyclists are not allowed on the lakeside circuit. Cyclists can use other areas.

There are often elite athletes running there from the Olympic school nearby. I'm hoping to get world-record holder Karston Warholm's autograph one day as i read in the February 2023 edition of Coop Medlem magazine that he trains there!

The place has a good bathroom facility which is thankfully free to use. For the adventurous, there are multiple tracks going into the forested beyond.

One track leads to Vetakollen (breathtaking views of Oslo) plus the Vetakkollen t bane station and is a regular run that I enjoy.

Highly recommended place. There is a small shop also with...

This is definitely a place which is a must visit in the list of places when anyone is in Norway.

I happened to visit on a day which happened to be extremely cold and wish we could have stayed there for much longer, however wind along with the cold did not help the plan for sure.

This lake will be even better during Spring and Summer time and what I understood is that people normally camp out here during Summers. Kids will certainly enjoy this place along with the metro ride that brings you up here.

T-Bane Line 5 will directly take you here from City Central and this is the place where we got a chance to see Northern Lights in Oslo after many many years, which was a surprise.

Only thing that seem to be a turn away is that there is not much choice for food and water and options are very limited.

Very nice place to come. Natural, calm and peaceful. Good place for children to enjoy, taking bath, especially in summer. Close to the T-bane then very easy to reach. You can jump to Kringså or Sognvann. If you come to Kringså, you can walk through the football yard. There are also ways to walk to the forest around Songvann. Otherwise, you can have short walk about 1-200 meters from Sognvann T-bane. This is a really suitable place for anyone who love nature. If it is sunny on the day you come, then remember to bring a bath suit follow. Picnic or having BBQ with family and friends there ( remember to follow the instruction of BBQ).

Lying just within the greenbelt around Oslo, the lake is a popular recreational area, used as a camping, picnicking and bathing destination for the residents of Oslo during the summer, as well as a cross-country skiing, skating and ice fishing destination in the winter. The trail around it is used for walking or jogging all year. Every year in August, swimming and running take part in Sognsvann as part of the Oslo Triathlon. Part of the lake's popularity stems from its easy access from Oslo; Sognsvann station, located on the south end of the lake, is the final stop on line 5 on the Oslo Metro.
