The location we visited turned out to be remarkably enchanting, far exceeding our expectations. As we arrived, we were greeted by the breathtaking sight of a picturesque lake, its surface transformed into a stunning glossy expanse due to the winter freeze. The unique beauty of this winter wonderland invited us to spend quality time strolling along the icy edges, where everything looked like it was glistening under the weak winter sun. The frozen surface not only provided an idyllic backdrop but also allowed for delightful activities like ice skating and leisurely walks, filling the air with a serene calmness that was truly refreshing.
if Nordic skiing is your passion, this destination is a must-visit. We discovered a lovely walking and skiing trail that elegantly circled the lake, offering a peaceful and immersive experience surrounded by nature's beauty. We chose to explore this scenic area during the holiday season on a tranquil Saturday afternoon. To our pleasant surprise, we found the surrounding mountains to be relatively uncrowded, which bestowed upon us a wonderful sense of tranquility, as if we had the great outdoors mostly to ourselves.
However, as we made our way closer to the lake, we noticed many more visitors beginning to gather, all drawn by the same scenic views that captivated us. Families were laughing as they skated, couples were taking romantic strolls, and friends were chatting animatedly, creating a delightful buzz that contrasted with the quietude we had initially enjoyed.
Among the most memorable highlights of our visit was discovering the charmingly arranged free fireplaces scattered around the lake’s perimeter. These cozy spots, positioned perfectly for a warm break, invited us to pause and bask in the warmth as we took in the surrounding beauty. Some visitors gathered around, sharing stories and laughter, while others indulged in hot drinks, adding a communal feeling to the atmosphere.
Whether you're looking to skate gracefully, carve through the snow on skis, or simply enjoy a quiet moment of reflection while walking along the scenic route, this destination holds a unique charm that caters to all. It was a delightful experience that we will cherish, and a place we would be eager to return to, especially during the winter season when it transforms into a...
Read moreLived in Oslo 2yrs ago and came to this lake a lot during that time, would recommend for any tourists or anyone staying in Oslo, so much to explore and you really could spend the day here but do be careful as it's really easy to get lost. In summer for a swim or a run, or in winter for skiing which has designated trails and do try to keep off it unless you want to make the skiers mad.
It's like two different places in summer and winter as when the ice melts away it's perfect for a swim or skinny dip and you can explore the outer edges of the lake with plenty of green space available.
In Winter, you can hike across it but tread lightly as the ice is a bit thin in some places and people do fall in sometimes.
There's a kiosk bar on site selling food and drink and it's well signposted and easily accessible too with nearby trains dropping you off...

You can park your vehicle 100mtrs away and walk down the lane to the lake. There are few small condiments for quick refreshments but not much of options. The subway direct takes you to the lake station, which is...
