I really love Sognsvann, and I'll tell you why in points:
It's right by the metro/subway which means you can get back and from Sognsvann every 15 minutes and it's no hassle. It's a great bathing place for children and adults. It's a big forest around it and there's lots of blueberries and other berries growing here. That's fun for children and adults. It's a great place to go camping in a tent. It's easy to get away from the other guests, and still only having a few minutes walk down to the water. Further into the forest there are other ponds and lakes, and fishing is possible of you're into that kind of thing. There are lots of mushrooms growing here in the fall, and they often have mushroom-controls that will go through your picked mushrooms for free if you want them too. They can tell you what you have and if they're all edible.

Read moreStayed at a student hostel just a 10-minute walk away from this place. As such, was fortunate enough to be able to come here as often as I wanted. Man, this place is beautiful and alive with people and activities during the weekends. Families would have picnics by the lake while some random events would be going on as well. During the weekdays, this place is less busy though there still a significant number of people having their evening jogs after work (Norwegians love their exercises, and nature, of course).
