The most visited beach in Lofoten and Vesterålen (eventhough we have some other beach pearls close by etc) This beach is famous for its white sand,in natural surroundings. It is just beside the mountaintops "Mannen/The Man","Veggen/The Wall","Tåa/The Toe" to name a few. It is popular for familys to attend to,and the past few years it has finally gotten back a café/kiosk and art shop in "Kraftstasjonen". This beach and the café has its own website, you can also find haukland beach and kraftstasjonen haukland on instagram. Both accounts runned by the owners of the café. The beach has changingrooms for men and women, and toilets each side in a small white building, black roof by the parking lot by the beach. It is maintained daily. Other then that it is maintained by a few locals,me included. The beach is finally undergoing some new projects, most of them are still in the thinking and development process. But a new interesting beach project that came to life in summer 2017,was a national beachvolleyball tournament. It was a test project and it was a instant success. So they are coming back next summer with more sponsors and even more competetive classes. Haukland Beach has 2 "sister beaches". You have Vik Beach wich is for thoose who think Haukland gets abit overcrowded. And a small one at Uttakleiv too. (More windy then Haukland and Vik,but nice) The only bad thing about Haukland Beach is that the summers are very up and down. The temperature and weather varies too much. On thoose perfect clear blue sky days,it can be breathtakingly beautiful and nice. But it can also easily be a cold, wet, negative experience if you come as a tourist when the summer days are allready gone,or they still havent arrived yet. Also broken glass can lay around in the edge of the waterline, and hidden at the beach by the water or small rocks etc. There are partying going on at winter, early spring there, and things happen with drunk people and glass bottles. But we few locals try to gather them before any accidents happen. Positive sides: Every summer you can rent different kayaks on the beach. You can also get to dive with some of the locals with boats in the area. Theres also a new volleyball net for thoose who bring...
Read moreA very beautiful beach, I visited in early June of 2023, and the weather was very good. The campsite is very nice, it wasn't too crowded and we were able to find a place to park the tent no problem, there were also some places to sit and cook food. I'm docking points because the toilets charge you 20 kroner each time you visit them, and only by contactless card, so if you only have cash you're sore out of luck (I didn't have a contactless card with me, had to borrow the card of a generous friend). It's also an extortionate price for people camping there who have to go more than once. Maybe this is just what I'm used to, I'm used to toilets that charge you at most 50 pence, or maybe a pound at most or are free. I do think they should at least tell people on the website, so people know about it, rather than it being a nasty surprise. Perhaps charging people once, and then printing off a wee code that allows people to use the toilet more than once would also be an option. I'd still recommend visiting the beach, just be...
Read moreOne of the best things I did during my solo trip to Norway was make a visit to the Lofoten Islands albeit just a day's visit (July). This is an Arctic paradise! I had pre booked a cycle and picked it up from the airport itself in Leknes. Haukland Beach was recommended to me... and boy, what an amazing cycling ride it was! Not a single soul on the road except for some occasional zooming cars! A beautiful turquoise colored beach, pure white sand, beautiful green mountains with a bit of snow, black rocks on the side, curious looking sheep around, i saw nature in its grandeur. Although the sign says no camping, a saw a few tents pitched. The public toilet there was super clean and I was amazed! It's a great place for family, friends or solo travelers! There are no restaurants around, so carry plenty of food and water. You can hike up the mountain to get some...
