Had such a great experience at Mad Monkey Nacpan Beach! In fact, enjoyed it so much that I ended up extending my stay beyond my original reservation. I was able to have a beach-camping experience by staying in one of the tents, which came with a large fan literally right next to the bed that kept me comfortable and cool from the heat while sleeping. This hostel is so special because of its location right on Nacpan Beach (so beautiful), and its amazing bar and lounging layout. But what really made my experience so great at MM Nacpan Beach was actually the people! My fellow tourists staying there were wonderful, but more specifically it was the staff that truly made it so enjoyable. Alexis was so awesome and helpful in assisting me with signing up for the Island Hopping tour, and it was because of her suggestion and guidance that I had a magical encounter with bioluminescent plankton in the ocean one evening. She also joined and helped host the actual island hopping tour, which made it even more fun. Our main host for the tour was Dash, who was truly the heart and soul of the tour. She was such a fun and memorable woman with a great sense of humor, and was such a big part of why the tour was so wonderful. Bianca, MJ, and Maria were all excellent bar/bar games hosts, and were the reason why spirits were always so high at the bar in the evenings and why everyone had so much fun! Additionally, as a solo traveler it was really nice to have Dash, MJ, and Maria around to hangout with during the relaxing downtime: just lounging, chatting, and laughing at the beach or bar tables during the middle of the day was just as enjoyable as the tours and party nights. And all the bartending staff was great too… Justin in particular was always attentive and friendly whenever I ordered something, and he always poured excellent tasting drinks promptly! I am so thankful for my experience at MM Nacpan Beach, and am so glad that I made unexpected friendships with so many people there. I highly recommend this hostel, especially if staying in or visiting Nacpan Beach. I can’t wait to visit again!

Really spectacular location and very friendly staff. The food and drinks are not bad, but they tend to take a long time to serve the food. They usually have activities every night, which allows you to interact with other people who are in the hostel. I don't give it four or five stars for the following reasons: - They only accept cash and the ATM there never has cash available. You have to go into town if you need a working ATM. - The boat activities they do are not much, very improvable. And in many of them they offer you alcohol, which is usually of very low quality, like many two choices (not even beer) and if you don't drink alcohol or don't feel like it at that moment.... At most you can drink some soft drink that they have brought to combine with the alcoholic beverages. For example, the sunset activity seemed to me to be a scam since they just take you a little bit into the sea, I expected some music to accompany the moment, some space on the boat to move around if you want and a little variety in the drinks... - Finally, and I think the most important thing, it is impossible to rest. There is no respect whatsoever inside the rooms: there are people coming in constantly at any time, even people who are not from that room, obviously you are supposed to come and do.... Noise is made, music is played, lights are opened? It doesn't matter what time it is! I think the place has a lot of potential, but those things make you not end up enjoying the experience.

Stayed two nights and wish we stayed one. Nacpan beach is gorgeous and it’s not that far out of el nido by tricycle (1000 pesos per tricycle) but the lack of AC means you basically won’t be able to sleep at all unless you are very accustomed to sleeping in the tropical climate with no AC. The fans in the 6 bed dorm are very loud and basically do nothing against the heat unfortunately. You kinda have to leave the curtain open at the end of your bed which is uncomfortable because you’ll want to be naked. The food is overpriced and sometimes not great (completely undercooked vegetarian pasta). You can get better/cheaper food from the family restaurants further up the beach. The snorkelling boat trip was good fun but the snorkels were not good quality (some unusable) and one of our friends didn’t get a snorkel..only a mask. You have to pay extra to kayak at stop 1 and you’re not allowed swim (an obvious trick to force you to Kayak) which didn’t go down well after we paid 1900 pesos already each for the tour. The free alcohol wasn’t hugely plentiful either as everyone on the tour were drinkers. There’s nowhere shady/cool to lie down during the day when you’re exhausted from the hot nights..the seats on the beach are extremely hot. The night time activities are good and the free drinks make for a cheap ish evening. It’s worth staying here for one night…but one night only . The staff are very nice and accommodating also.

Thoughts Amazing location, average hostel. Think we came at a time of change where they suddenly started implementing a 5% surcharge half way through the day, even on drinks ordered at the bar - an extra price to consider. Pros: >Beach was amazing, brilliant sunsets, would recommend going for a night swim to see the bioluminescent. >Good vibe in hostel, nice staff. >Fun activities organised by the hostel - however regularly changed the start time and slightly misleading (advertised 3 drinks on boat day tour only got 1). >Clean facilities. >Food was amazing, best fish curry I had it 3 nights in a row! And portions were a good size. >cash and card (do have a atm and there are other atms in hotels along the beach) >bed comfy and a LARGE single with curtain. Cons: >CONSTANT music played all day from around 7:30am-2am. No peace on the beach, couldn’t even hear the sea. In the evening understandable but couldn’t have a conversation over dinner at 7pm. >No air-con - but own fan above bed in dorm rooms. >Water pressure in showers was not great unfortunately, but at the end of the day you are on a beach :). >No signal and no wifi in rooms, but good wifi in communal areas. >Be clear with your breakfast order and leave plenty of time for your order to come (lunch and dinner was fine).

Don't like leaving bad reviews but sadly, I can't recommend this hostel. Whilst the bathrooms were clean, that's pretty much the only positive from this place. Rooms are basic with no aircon, just a wall of fans. No hot water (but not really an issue as it's so hot). Food is overpriced, way better quality and larger portions at other places along the beach for same price. Staff are miserable. We booked the "island hopping" tour, they tell us on the day we need to pay extra for kayak rental. The tour "host" slept the whole time, didn't want to answer any questions, made no effort to create an atmosphere. The other tour operator drank 50% of the alcohol meant for us (see video below), passed out drunk by 3pm. We took it upon ourselves to find a good snorkel spot and saw 3 turtles, you'd think the staff would be more invested. We were told they'd speak to the general manager about getting us some compensation, took my number and now won't answer any calls or messages. We left a day earlier. Do yourself a favour and stay in El Nido, Nacpan is good for a day visit.

A great option to stay! It is 45 minute trycicle ride from El Nido, so if you come from PPS airport via van you arrive pretty tired. But you get immediately received with a fresh glass of water and a cold tower. The place has everything: you can get food, drinks, friends, massages, relaxing time at the beach, plus it has daily activities to promote meeting people including beer pong and pub quizes. Time really flies. Since you are 45min away form El Nido, you can book the island hopping tours with them, or they can call a trycicle to take you to your tour. Only had things to state: - there are a lot of renovations going on, and it gives an incomplete look to the hostel, but no extra noise - the lofts are okay, but small, not different from the photos - they have a van from PPS airport but only tell you the night before and when you accept they don't get back to you, so I don't know what that was all about Oh and the staff is amazing!!! Learnt how to make daiquiris!
