â â âââ Beautiful on the Outside, Frustrating on the Inside
We stayed at Nacpan Beach Resort for several nights, and while there were a few things we appreciated, overall it was a disappointing experience.
Letâs start with the good: ⢠The bed was very comfortable, and the room was spacious, nicely designed, and clean. ⢠The staff were friendly and always smiling, which we truly appreciated. ⢠The smart TV in the room was a fun touch, and we liked having it. ⢠There was a cold water dispenser right outside the roomâvery convenient. ⢠Overall, everything felt clean and well-organized.
But unfortunately, the problems went far beyond what these positives could balance.
There is no elevator, and the stairs are dangerously slippery when wet. The wooden handrail is hard to grip, and there are no anti-slip stickersâjust signs that say âCaution: Slippery.â It felt more like legal cover than genuine guest care. I almost slipped multiple times, even though I was very careful.
The shower pressure was weak, there was no handheld showerhead, and the soap provided had a horrible synthetic smell. We had to ask for it in the first placeâit wasnât even stocked when we arrived.
We needed to work a little during our stay, but there was no desk in the room. The one they eventually brought was made of flimsy rattan and too wobbly to use properly.
The restaurant food was below average, and every dish was overcooked or dry. The breakfast buffet was okay at best, and while the coffee was drinkable, it definitely wasnât good.
We had serious noise issuesâone night, the guest next door blasted music and shouted until late. We asked staff to handle it, but they barely did anything, and I had to knock on the door myself and demand silence.
The next day, the hotel left a bottle of wine on our bed as compensationâbut when we asked for a corkscrew, they said they didnât have one. That sums it up: a place that tries to look good but lacks follow-through.
Leaving the resort by scooter was also dangerousâthe access road is unsealed and often muddy, making it very difficult and slippery to drive on. We almost fell while trying to exit the resort on a scooter, and it made getting around feel risky and stressful.
The biggest dealbreaker? There is absolutely nowhere to get food after 10:30 PM. As digital nomads working late hours, we were stunned. The hotel staff simply shrugged. We had to rent a motorbike and drive 40 minutes into town just to get a meal. No 7-Eleven, no snacks, not even a vending machine.
The Wi-Fi was unreliable, cutting off during power outages or due to âexpired access codes.â And thereâs no mobile signal in the entire area, so if Wi-Fi fails, youâre completely disconnected.
every morning, birds would start screaming outside our window at 7 AMâno chance to sleep in peacefully.
Lastly, although itâs not the resortâs fault, itâs important to mention: getting here from Puerto Princesa took 5 exhausting hours on rough roadsâsomething we werenât aware of when booking.

Bottom line: This place gets 2 stars only because of the kind staff, the comfortable bed, and the cleanliness. But the lack of basic amenities, safety concerns, food issues, and isolation made this a frustrating stay. Looks arenât everythingâand this resort is a...
Read moreHere is a summary of our 10 day stay in mid October 2024: the road to the resort was described as bad, sure it's not ideal however, nowhere near as bad as many reviews claim, and really not worth the mention, it goes by so quickly. In anyway the scenery makes up for it. Once arrived we were able to check in at 12:00 already. The staff very kind and helpful throughout our whole stay, they even printed visas for us. The staff is in general very attentive and the whole resort is kept clean at all times, sand in the lobby area or in front of the rooms was swiftly cleaned up and everything is kept tidy at all times.
Water is supplied by the hotel roomservice, but there are also water dispensers outside of the rooms. There is a mini fridge in the room, room service always brings fresh towels, houseslides and coffee packages. The room is spacious, had great AC, blackout curtains, even an air purifier,a safe, an electric fly swarter and a very large TV.
The beach is right in the front of the resort and it's beautiful; most days were a little bit rainy but only for short time and the sun came right back. The resort had its own beach so there were sunchairs with umbrellas always available for us. It's important to be diligent with the insect repellant even at the beach because there are sandmites. Hoewever, we had more issues with mosquitos than sandflies.
Despite many negative comments on peddlers, us, two women who would be probably the primary clientel for the jewellery peddlers, did not feel annoyed by them - they try once and immediately accept no as an answer - it's really not an issue at all.
The Sunmai restaurant was nice especially the pizzas. In general it is advised to bring cash for all the other restaurants at Nacpan Beach. There were 3-4 of other options in walking distance.
We didn't include breakfast because we slept longer but there is other places too that offer breakfast in the area.
There are many animals such as stray cats and dogs, birds, toads and more at Nacpan beach and they are everywhere. They are friendly and they don't attack. Sometimes the dogs bark but we didn't find it an issue. In general it is a lovely place to spend your beach holiday, it is calm and serene. Once it gets boring, there is plenty of day cruises from El Nido and the whole transport to the city is also organized by the hotel - very recommended! And a lovely beach bag I was gifted đ

Read moreI stayed at Nacpan Beach Resort for 7 days, and what an experience it was. We arrived in the morning, paid for breakfast, rested a bit, and took a dip in the beach while waiting for our room. After checking in and having lunch, we slept in the glamping area since we were jet-lagged.
We spent 3 nights in the glamping area, which was a unique and enjoyable experience. It does get quite hot during the day, but at night itâs cool and relaxing, with the sound of the waves nearby. The CR is a bit far, and the pool bar was unattended during our stay. The gym could also use some cleaning. Still, these minor inconveniences were made up for by Marv, who went above and beyond to provide everything we needed. He truly made our stay special.
For the next 3 nights, we transferred to a first-floor room, which in my opinion was much better than the glamping area. The bed was cozier, the air-conditioning was stronger, and the bathroom was more spaciousâoverall a much more comfortable experience.
On our last night, we stayed in a third-floor room with a balcony facing the beach. While the air-conditioning wasnât as strong and climbing up was tiring, the view made it worthwhile, and since it was our last night, we didnât mind too much.
Overall, our El Nido trip was amazing! Nacpan Beach is stunningâpeaceful, relaxing, and worth the distance. The food was delicious, and the resort itself was so enjoyable that we spent 2 full days just staying in. Would I come...
