The Panglao Watchtower in Dauis, Panglao, Bohol, is a historical and cultural landmark that offers a glimpse into the island's past. This watchtower, along with the nearby old church and entry feature, combines both history and natural beauty in a single location.

The Panglao Watchtower itself is a well-preserved structure that dates back to the Spanish colonial period. It was built to serve as a lookout point to protect the island from pirate attacks. The tower stands tall amidst lush greenery, offering a commanding view of the surrounding landscape and the sea. Visitors can climb to the top of the watchtower for a panoramic view of Panglao's coastline, making it a great spot for taking photographs and enjoying the scenery.

Adjacent to the watchtower, you'll find the Dauis Church, also known as the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption. This centuries-old church is an architectural gem, featuring intricate stone carvings, historic artifacts, and a serene courtyard. It's a place of worship and reflection, and its historical significance adds to the allure of the entire site.

The entry feature, likely referring to the entrance or gateway to the complex, serves as a welcoming point for visitors. It may also contain information or signage explaining the history and significance of the watchtower and church, enhancing the overall visitor experience.

The Panglao Watchtower, old church, and entry feature collectively provide a rich cultural and historical experience for those interested in Bohol's heritage. The peaceful atmosphere and beautiful surroundings make it an ideal destination for history enthusiasts, photographers, or anyone looking to explore the island's past while enjoying its...

A must-see historical stop in Panglao! I visited the Panglao Watchtower during my trip and really enjoyed the quiet, historic vibe. Built in 1851, it's the tallest watchtower of its kind in the Philippines and sits right next to the beautiful San Agustin Church. It's free to visit and perfect for a quick photo or to learn a bit of local history. I just wish there was more information on-site, but overall, definitely worth...

It's good to be back here again with my Nanay. Used to be working as Community Facilitator of a marine resource conservation project way back in 2005 in Panglao and barangay Poblacion was one of my areas and this watchtower seemed to be standing there waiting for restoration but nevertheless, showed a reminder of Panglaonon's past. Now that it's restored, it truly shows how beautiful that glorious past had been. ❣️😉

It's locked so you can't see inside, although it was probably empty. The top storey was destroyed in 2013 and was rebuilt. Could be a good lookout - that was what it built for. It was built in 1851 from coral. White when built but blackened with time. Cleaned could in prove it. It stands in a car park, so is bad in photos, and the footpath is often under water.
