The town of San Juan is not only known for its pristine white beaches, but is also home to a spot beloved by the locals and a must-visit for travelers. The Capilay Spring in San Juan is situated right at the center of the town itself, making it easy for travelers to visit and a favorite hang-out spot for locals.
Experience Capilay Spring like the locals do. It is built like a park, filled with green grasses and tall acacia tress, beautified with picnic tables and small roofed cottages. Since its at the very center of the town, you can buy some foods and beverages at nearby stores and eatery. Enjoy the laidback ambiance of Siquijor as you chill by a relaxing cottage.
Best of all, plunge! If you don't, it defeats the purpose. Though its green in color, its a natural pool concreted and turned into a park. There is a pipe running below the surface, beneath the road and into the ocean where the water is deposited. The place is teeming with fishes so you know its clean.
Best way to enjoy Capilay Spring:
1.) Buy some foods and do picnic. Be responsible for your own trash. Some people just throw their bottles by the spring which is sad.
2.) Bring extra clothes and plunge into the cool spring. Be careful because sometimes, there are broken shards of beer bottles underneath the floor which I though belonging to a group of youngster doing drinking session the other night.
3.) If you're only here for IG... don't, but if you are, then the bridge connecting both banks of Capilay Spring isn't the only IG worthy spot here.
