While staying in Dumaguete, we came across a YouTube video featuring a vlogger exploring attractions in Negros Oriental. One spot stood out — a unique geothermal phenomenon. We checked Google Maps and saw it was only 15 minutes away from our hotel, so we decided to visit right away.

The scene was absolutely captivating. At first, we thought it was caused by Mt. Kanlaon, but we later learned it was actually due to Mt. Talinis, an active volcano responsible for many hot springs and geothermal activity in Valencia.

Pros: – Just across the road (if you're coming from Dumaguete), there's a beautiful waterfall right beside the highway. – The geothermal landscape is stunning and unforgettable.

Cons: – It can get a bit crowded. – The sulfuric smell (like rotten eggs) can be strong — bringing a mask is a good idea if you're sensitive to smells.

Overall, it was a new and memorable experience for us, especially since it was our first time witnessing something like this. If you're planning to go to Dumaguete, definitely include this...

If you’re looking for a relaxing and natural healing spot near Dumaguete, the Valencia Sulfur Vents is worth a visit. The place is surrounded by lush greenery and fresh mountain air, making it a peaceful escape from the city.

The sulfur vents release warm steam that smells like eggs (because of the sulfur), but it’s not too strong. The steam is believed to be good for the skin and helps with body aches and respiratory problems. There’s a small area where you can sit and enjoy the heat, like a natural sauna.

The road going there is a bit steep and rocky, so it’s better to ride a motorcycle or a car that can handle uphill drives. It’s free to visit, and there’s no entrance fee, which makes it a nice...

Smells like a boiled egg. Not good to inhale for a long time. Also, be careful when you pass by here since the smokes from the vents may also cover the road like a fog, especially when it's raining, which will make it difficult for you to see the road. Located just beside the road, the Pulantubig Sulfur Vents are actually one of several vents within the Cuernos de Negros volcanic complex. Others are found in Brgy. Balili, fronting Palinpinon, and others in Mt. Talinis. The Vents were also featured in several travel shows and many vlogs. It is now a popular...

A Unique Sulfur Vent Experience Nestled along the cliffside, these sulfur vents offer a fascinating glimpse into geothermal activity. The road is lined with barricades on both sides, with minimal "No Parking" signs, so parking further ahead is recommended. The distinct scent of sulfur dioxide—reminiscent of heated mud—adds to the raw, natural atmosphere, though bringing a mask is advised for comfort. Best of all, this intriguing tourist spot has no entrance fee, making it a must-visit for anyone exploring the area!
