Surface Liwa Resort's pool is huge enough to accommodate all room guests. The staff are approachable and friendly. They have decent parking spaces, so there's no need to park on the sides of the resort. It has an Airbnb-hotel type atmosphere with its cozy, homey, and nature-inspired style. As I am used to the hustle and bustle of Manila, a getaway to Zambales and a stay at Surface would calm my mind and body. However, if you are someone who is up for a party all night, there are bars around Surface Liwa, or you can buy your own drinks and stay in the nipa hut owned by Surface by the beach. These are separate nipa huts away from the resort. I brought my own tissue as the resort does not provide it, but they have bidets. Toothpaste and soap are provided. They also have a Filipino food menu. There is fast Wi-Fi in the lobby; however, in some parts of the resort, the Wi-Fi connection might be weak, and you might have to use your own data. If you want to use an ATV, Surface Liwa has partnered with Daniel, who has 6 ATV units, and you will get a discount if you tell them you are staying at Surface Liwa. Surface Liwa has a style that lets you relax and unwind. The blankets in the bedrooms are thin, so you might need to bring your own thick blanket if you get cold easily, but you can also adjust the temperature of the air conditioner. Overall, Surface Liwa provides a tranquil space for anyone, with options to swim, surf, or simply sit and...
Read moreWe picked this resort because it was pet-friendly, had wonderful reviews, and a beautiful pool. However on our visit (close to Dec 25), it had an undesirable color so we didn’t try to swim in it. It’s said that there was freshly added chlorine which caused the change in color.
We also struggled as we had a PWD and seniors, there were stairs they had to climb up and the way up to the resort wasn’t smoothly paved (hard to push the wheelchair). But the staff were kind to help us.
There is close to no phone signal here and you can only use wifi in the lobby (no signal in the rooms). Unfortunately, there was also no cable TV despite being part of the listed amenities.
As advertised, the beach was just a short walk away. It was just difficult to find the resort at first due to...

The GOOD: pool!! Fantastic. Better even than many luxury hotels. So good you get kinda torn - do I surf or just pool it??
Dazz it.
The NOT SO GOOD: bed is hard. Pillows are harder. If you stay here MUST bring your own pillow NO TOILET PAPER. Serious. They really don't provide. Screws up the plumbing I think. thin blankets. Should bring your own extra because in fairness, the aircon is coooold!! no hot water. But Water pressure was decent enough to power the shower, although I still opted for the balde because shower pressure was still not strong enough
Despite all that, I MIGHT just stay here again because it is one of the nicer places in...
