Lake Rusałka is an artificial lake in Poznań, Poland with an area of 367,000 square metres. It was named after the water nymph Rusalka. It was formed in 1943 as a result of the damming of the Bogdanka River. In 1940 thousands of people were executed in the forests surrounding the lake.

One of the nicer places close to Poznań. The lakes really nice though the water weeds often fill the lake so immensely that you can barely swim or fish in it. They do seem to try to reduce it with machinery but it grows back so fast...
PS: To the polish fishermen take your damn rubbish with you when you leave... You're ruining your own...

It's an interesting man made lake that was a bit difficult to get to. I took a bus to the outskirts and then headed through the woods following Google maps. Not a good idea as it's easy to get lost that way following the supposed footpaths on the map. It is a bit eerie too so a bit creepy to walk...
