A must visit location if you ever come to Celorico de Beiro. It's a very old historical castle in the centre of the town. It's free admission. The castle mainly consist of the castle wall, and a tower. There is not much to see, but there are signs explaining the history of it, which you will learn a lot from them. You can access to the to e of the castle wall. However, it's not for the faint hearted, as there is no safety guard and it's very high way. I do not recommend any children to go up the wall without supervision. Once you are on the wall, the view is breath taking. You can actually walk all the way round, taking in the full beauty that Celorico can give. Because I visited during low tourist season, there was no one there, and it was such a peaceful location to be in. I would definitely like to go again in the future.

I'd give it 4.5. Was perfect for us. We had the whole place to ourselves for the evening. Took pizza for dinner and sat on the wall to relax, eat, and watch the sunset. Very cool to explore and venture, especially for ZERO cost and open 24 hours. You could spend 15min, you could spend 2 hours relaxing. Some may be disappointed that funds just aren't there for some of the upkeep. Signs and information boards faded or gone. Ants (it's a park!), or other things. But it is clean and it is free. Donate a euro if you have it. It's fascinating that the fort wall is some people's back yard, literally! Beautiful view and imagination of history.
