Hotel Mira Serra — Hotel in Celorico da Beira

There seems to be several hotels with this name and confusion reigns! The hotel we stayed in was listed under Guarda, the photo matches the one on this page, but the hotel is at Celorico da Beira, about 10 miles from Guarda at a lower altitude so not as cold or covered in low cloud.||||The hotel has seen better days but the price 40 euros for a double room and including breakfast could bot be faulted. Staff were very friendly and spoke English. The room was clean and everything worked. Evening meal was basic and it took us back to our first visit to Portugal nearly 40 years ago (boiled cabbage accompanying both main courses on the a la cart menu!) .||||The photos disguise the fact that the hotel has a noisy, cobbled road running by the side of the hotel and there is quite a bit of traffic through the night. ignore the recommendation to book a room at the front (there is no views from lower rooms) and try one at the back - it might be quieter! Found this spot on booking.com originally, and it was totally what we hoped it would be.

Old school charm that is downplayed and casual, yet very professional and attentive. Dog friendly :)

Rooms are extremely clean and have what you would need for a night or even two. The front desk is very helpful if you need anything else.

We did not have the chance to have dinner with them but we hope to next time!

Celorico da Beira seria apenas uma parada de uma noite, em nossa viagem de carro por Portugal. Mas essa noite seria a de 24 de Dezembro. Sem saber o que nos esperava, eu, minha mulher e meu filho programamos passar a noite de Natal dentro do quarto do hotel, fazendo uma ceia improvisada com o que compramos no supermercado no dia anterior. Terminamos fazendo talvez a melhor ceia de nossas vidas, tanto pelas iguarias quanto, principalmente, pela companhia de pessoas agradabilíssimas que nunca tínhamos visto antes. Isso porque fomos convidados pela família do Sr. Fernando Castro Batista, proprietário do Hotel Mira Serra, para cear com eles. Naturalmente, por ser noite de Natal, havia poucos hóspedes e, por um valor simbólico, todos nos deliciamos com fartura, com os vinhos, o queijo de fabricação local (simplesmente o maravilhoso Serra da Estrela, ao sopé da qual fica o hotel), o melhor bacalhau e uma variedade incrível de outros pratos, acepipes e sobremesas diversas. Esta é uma avaliação não apenas de carácter emocional. O Hotel Mira Serra é muito confortável, silencioso, espaçoso, com estacionamento fácil e gratuito, valor da diária com excelente relação custo-benefício, etc. Enfim, recomendo com entusiasmo essa opção aos brasileiros que forem a Portugal e quiserem conhecer uma autêntica...
