Portugal dos Pequenitos is a charming and educational theme park in Coimbra, perfect for families, history lovers, and those curious about Portuguese culture. Opened in 1940, the park is designed to showcase Portugal’s architectural and cultural heritage in miniature form, making it a delightful experience for visitors of all ages.

Attractions & Experience

The park is divided into different sections, each representing various aspects of Portuguese culture:

Miniature Portuguese Landmarks: Visitors can explore small-scale replicas of famous monuments, castles, and traditional houses from different regions of Portugal.

Colonial Influence: A section dedicated to Portugal’s former overseas territories highlights the country’s global historical connections.

Children’s Area: Designed specifically for younger visitors, this area allows kids to explore and interact with the structures in a fun and engaging way.

Atmosphere & Ambiance

The park is beautifully maintained, with colorful buildings and well-kept gardens that create a fairytale-like atmosphere. It’s an ideal place for a relaxed stroll while learning about Portugal’s rich architectural and historical heritage.

Tips for Visitors

Best visited on a weekday morning to avoid crowds.

It’s an excellent destination for families with young children, but adults will also appreciate the cultural significance.

Some areas have limited shade, so bringing a hat and sunscreen is recommended in summer.

Final Verdict

Portugal dos Pequenitos is a unique attraction that combines history, culture, and fun in a beautifully crafted environment. While primarily aimed at children, adults with an interest in history and architecture will also find it worthwhile. If you’re in Coimbra, it’s a...

I absolutely loved our visit!! Went with a 5 yr old, 3 yr old and baby. Lovely way to spend a couple of hours. We thought the houses were well maintained, and the children had a lovely time running around and going in and out of the tiny houses. It is big/wide enough to take a pram. My little ones are too small to appreciate the historical aspects, but we paid for them to have a passport (which costs €1 each) and they enjoyed getting it stamped on the first area of the park. When we got to the second (original) area, they absolutely loved running around and exploring all the little houses. It was wonderful! This is ideal for younger children, who enjoy running around. They have clearly tried to incorporate some interactivity, but as other mentioned most of this is not working - in the first part of the park, none of the screens and buttons worked! This could do with some tlc - older children and adults visiting the park will probably feel disappointed by this part of the experience. The passport machines were however all working and that was all my little ones really cared about! They also have an area where children can do painting and colouring, and they read stories - this was also a hit! When we went there was also an Easter egg hunt which was well received (even though the prize of free tickets for children - which can only be used within 2 months - was an immense disappointment for the girls who would have rather had sweeties!). They did however really enjoy the egg hunt. Couldn't find a cafe or anywhere to eat (apart from ice creams), so don't go hungry! I would definitely recommend this experience for...

Portugal's Azores archipelago is a gem of the Atlantic, known for its stunning landscapes, vibrant culture, and abundant biodiversity. My opinion of the Azores is that it's an idyllic destination that combines the beauty of nature with a tranquil, laid-back lifestyle.

The Azores, consisting of nine islands, each with its own unique character, offer a diverse range of environments. From the lush, volcanic landscapes of São Miguel to the dramatic cliffs and crater lakes of Terceira and Pico, there's something for everyone. The natural beauty is unparalleled, with verdant forests, pristine beaches, and geothermal hot springs creating a paradise for nature enthusiasts.

The Azores' commitment to sustainability and eco-tourism is commendable. Efforts to protect the environment are evident, with strict regulations on development and a focus on renewable energy sources. This ensures that the islands remain unspoiled, allowing visitors to experience the raw beauty of nature without compromising its integrity.

The local culture is warm and inviting, with a rich history that reflects Portuguese traditions while embracing the unique characteristics of island life. Festivals, traditional music, and delicious cuisine add to the overall charm.

Overall, the Azores are a remarkable destination for those seeking a blend of adventure, relaxation, and cultural immersion. It's a place where you can disconnect from the hustle and bustle of modern life and reconnect with the beauty of the...

I had last been here when I was very young and had those young memories and expectations when I went there again. At the beginning of the 'park' you find an ode to the old Portuguese territories that they founded during their navigational journeys including Macau, Timor, Guinea Bissau and so forth. The second part is of some famous Portuguese monuments. Finally the third part is of the various architectural housing designs old and new throughout Portugal. I feel that the first part could do with an upgrade and a little more information on the various territories, making it less superficial and more educational. There was also an exhibition of Lego toys and sets old and new I'm unsure if this is a permanent or temporary exhibition. The park as a whole is good as it's done really well. Kids will love it because they can run in and out of all the tiny little houses. That said there are A LOT of kids running around.

This is a place where you can discover Portuguese history. It takes you on a journey to all the places Portugal colonised during the time when Portuguese exploitation was at its peak. Discovery was the main goal finding new worlds and setting up trade routes. Go on a journey from Azores to Angola. From Mozambique to Macau and India. Also get to see some of the architecture from the place, with perfectly build replicas build here in miniature. Its great for whole family. The children love it because all the small buildings they can run in and out of play on and explore. There is a small train that takes you around for a short trip. Also there is an area with many small houses, churches and castles for the kids to play on and in. There is also a play area with swings and slides and a grass place to play on.
