I will preface that we have found Sweet Egg Yolk desserts to really not be to our taste, we were pretty disappointed by the pastries we got. The tart was not the buttery crumbly base I was expecting, it had a thin coating of something sweet and jelly-set-like that was again not to our taste. The Pastel de Nata, served room temperature, was not the best. Ranked bottom compared to the other 8 I have had in these few days. Pasteis de Santa Clara didn't have a buttery shell, which would have helped it a lot. And the Pastel de Tentu, because if the filling, was not to our taste.

A bustling bakery/cafe in the pedestrian zone was calling our name for breakfast. Seating was fast, the waitstaff efficient, and everything behind the counter looked delicious… The menu is extensive but has only a single line for each item and we had no idea what we ordered - aside from egg/ham/cheese/jam we understood nothing. The waiter told us names of what he liked and we sort of went with what he said…. Then ended up with a few things we liked (quiche) and many things that were far too sweet for us. Worst service I have ever seen in my life. I’ve been to countless cafés in Portugal. I know the service here is not as prompt as in the states, but usually the food comes out without an issue eventually. At this cafe the workers were rude and dissmissive. They refused to take my order for dine-in at the counter and said someone would come serve me. After waiting 15 minutes, I reminded them and they said they would send someone. 15 minutes later I reminded them again, same response. Waited another 15 mintes and went to cafe Montanha next door.
