Douro Pula Canhada Kayaking — Attraction in Miranda do Douro

Pedro took us on an amazing half day canoe trip of the Douro River which divides Spain and Portugal through the Miranda De Douro National park. This area of the Douro river is seen by only a handful of people each year as Pedro's trips are very conscientious about maintaining the best practices for the environment and not disrupting the rare, existing wildlife. We got to see eagles, vultures and falcons at close proximity whilst kayaking through the beautiful canyon in perfect conditions. An absolutely brilliant day out!

My family spent two half days Kayaking with Pedro Cordeiro the owner of Douro Pula Canhada enjoying one of Portugal's wonders Douro International Natural Park. It was an amazing experience, surely one we will about speak many times in the years to come. Pedro is very knowlegeable and passionate about the park wild life, Miranda do Douro history and traditions including the local dialect which is an official languange in Portugal. He gave us excellent tips about places to go to enjoy wonderfuls views and to watch birds. We look forward to returning to Miranda do Douro and meeting Pedro for more adventures in Douro International...

The kayak trip was fantastic, we saw 4 golden eagles (parents with two juveniles); Egyptian vultures; Griffon vultures; lots of black kites including one close to us that dived and caught a fish then ate it as we watched. Hundreds of Alpine and common my swifts. We also saw two very nosey mink swimming and climbing around the river bank; bad for the local fish and otters, but so cute to watch. And huge carp in the river.
