🏖️ Praia dos Mosteiros: A Hidden Beach Gem 🏖️

🌊 Praia dos Mosteiros is a hidden gem of a beach, located on the western coast of São Miguel Island in the Azores. With its volcanic black sand and clear blue waters, it's a sight to behold.

🌊 The beach is surrounded by rugged cliffs, providing a sense of seclusion and privacy. Despite its remote location, it's a popular spot for both locals and tourists alike.

🏊‍♀️ Swimming here is a unique experience, with the warm waters providing a refreshing contrast to the cool ocean breeze. The beach is also a great spot for snorkeling, with a diverse array of marine life to discover.

🌴 The surrounding area is just as stunning, with lush greenery and vibrant wildflowers. There are several hiking trails nearby, providing breathtaking views of the coastline and the ocean.

🍦 After a day at the beach, be sure to stop by one of the local cafes or restaurants to refuel. The area is known for its delicious seafood and traditional Portuguese cuisine.

🌃 As the sun sets, the beach takes on a magical quality, with the twinkling lights of the nearby town reflecting off the water. It's the perfect way to end a day of adventure.

💭 Overall, Praia dos Mosteiros is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the natural beauty of the Azores. Whether you're looking for a relaxing day at the beach or an adventure-filled day of exploration, this hidden gem is sure to impress.

Narrow streets to get there and difficult to park. Dark beach with dark Sands but with a nice view, specially at sunset but all beaches are lovely at sunset. Don't try to go into the water. Strong currents and with lots of loose rocks that hit you in your feet. I tried to get into the water, was hit on my right foot and was injured. I returned many times to this beach as it was the closest to home but never more tried to get into the water. It is also a bit depressing with no places to eat, snack or drink close buy and with lot's of not so well kept houses. Also a lot of noise from the people in the beach. It is not quiet. Be careful when driving there, streets are narrow and with sharp turns. To sum it up, park the car, go outside and leave. You see it in 5minutes and that is it. Don't waste your time spending an entire day there because you...

STUNNING beach with dark volcanic sand. It is at the very end of the island but I definitely recommend you to visit it.

• Be carefull because there can be really BIG WAVES and entrance in the sea is steep from the begining. There are some big rocks and you can get easily hurt if the waves are too strong. Even though there are LIFEGUARDS during the day, bathing is NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN. But you can enjoy the walk, view, playing in sand.

• FOOD - you can find two stands with snacks on which you can find juices, ice cream or fast food. Unfortunately you can't find many vegetarian / vegan options except ice cream.

• It is very clean WITHOUT PLASTIC

• You can find PARKING near the beach but get there in the morning when there are more free lots

• There is no place to order an parasol so bring sun cream...

This is one of the nicest towns that I visited during our visit to the island. Getting into the water was kind of rough, waves were strong with steep down. But, once you get in the water was nice. The panoramic view of the town and fields was fantastic just up the road are gorgeous to behold. Very recommended place since the island does not have too many beach options.

Gorgeous Beach with black sand, nice views, lots of fascinating dead jellyfish, and a nearby place for coffee and sandwiches. Adjacent parking. After you stop by, go visit the nearby cemetery- we could all use a check in with our own mortality every so often. Puts things in a grander things and perspective, and it’s good for one’s humility.
