Funny how people leave reviews of Ponta da Ferraria here and neither them, nor google or AI recognizes... shallowness and malfunction.

The building and the surrounding is disappointing to me as I'm a regenerative designer.

The service at the bar/reception is WOW!!!! 2 men behind the bar spoke every big language from Europe, were very attentive, kind and smiley - for me the essence of service.

The daily carrot cream soup was just enough to fill my stomach - and tasty! -, but still able to join their outdoor pool - arrived too late for an inside experience, but next time for sure will come back and test that too.

water temperature was very nice for relaxing, quietness surprisingly good - althought i got there at 4.30pm ish, all together 6 of us in there... -, the full Sun, no shade situation would be an issue for me for longer stay. I could/would design here something lushy that still not outsanding from the environment (lack of living flora at the shores). I can imagine to spend a day here with a good book. Children's pool is not supporting this and I would definitely not allow any children here - thermal water is in general not recommended below age 14 as kids heart rate is above adult ones, so not really need to push it up more... and fully exposed to Sun is again something not healthy. There were a couple with a small kid - ~18M -, adults wore big head covers, little one nothing. :-S

I don't agree with this latest trend of making everything child / dog / whatever compatible. There are certain time and place for certain things. youngsters can join Ponta da Ferraria - and they love it! -, smaller than that don't belong here - count please I learned a lot about anthroposophist (waldorf) approach of raising finctioning human beings, seen the result of children raised by those rules and find it fully valid, rational, true.

Will come back I'll be next time on the island and sad as a backpacker did not have a chance to visit this place 10yrs ago, when I get to know about it and low quality mass tourism did not flood the Acores yet. Sure might have been a once in a...

To start with the access road was quite hair-raising (especially when driving a rental car!), car park was adequate for maybe 60 cars.

The natural volcanic pool has a nice changing and shower area before you get down to it but the last 8 metres or so involves clambering over volcanic rocks so bring beach shoes if you have 'city feet'. The sea water is warm in places, quite nice with beautiful cyan blue tones, but the waves can be quite full on even in the pool, there are aged ropes to hold onto so you can be safe but we had bad luck with tidal junk on the surface of the water including a small Man-o-war, it's all natural though so it is what it is.

Unfortunately the paid Spa itself is not fit-for-purpose, in desperate need of refurbishment and a re-think in every way - the brown coloured iron rich main pool was far too tepid to be called a hot pool and the cold pool was warm and extremely small, the sauna is not a sauna - the door doesn't shut and the wooden benches are decrepit. The showers are stupidly designed with a small amount of water falling from the ceiling, some weren't even working and the toilets were also run-down.

Staff were certainly friendly, we should have requested a refund really as other reviewers have mentioned and they probably would have obliged. Didn't try the coffee or food there but its usually pretty good...

This is great fun for anyone half way healthy 3 to 103 years old

Find when low tide is then get there 20 minutes early. Always check the weather because you can experience all 4 seasons in one day in Açores.

I HAD A BLAST !!! 😆 😁 Safety message: Bring water to drink afterwards. Wear cross trainers or rubber soled surf shoes on your feet. Volcanic lava fields are sharp! This is all natural! When I was there, no life guards! (Maybe later, IDK)

Be careful! Hold on to rocks or safety ropes. Currents can be strong. I got a small scratch near my ankle. So what? It's worth it.

There are plenty of ropes to keep you where you want to be. When the waves wash out, termas água (very. Hot. Muito calor!!!) rushes in from the rocks. When the waves come in they will pick you up! And the water cools considerably. I stayed an hour or more and got a workout battling the North Atlantic to knock me out of my spot. Especially obliques, abs, triceps, and all leg muscles. Be ready to hold on tight. This is absolutely free, natural and super fun. Even 3 year olds were with...

Want to start by saying that the staff was really really nice, personable and they treated us very well. Unfortunately they were the only bright spot. When we arrived, the outdoor thermal pools that we came for were completely empty. Bad start. The indoors facilities are quite outdated (it’s an old hospital) and they were not worth the value. The sauna is not sealed, so it’s not much of a sauna as all the heat escapes. They offer a “cold pool”, which sounds great to go between sauna & cold, but the pool was luke warm, which is pointless. €15 cost was not worth it. To their credit, we left after about 20 mins and asked for our money back & it was returned no problem and no fuss. There are some natural heated pools on this property & some amazing views around the coast, which is still worth seeing/visiting, and that’s why there are 3 stars. Without those it would be 2. (Be careful if you’re driving a manual car, these were the steepest hills that we drove on the entire island)

Unique experience in the naturally heated ocean. Place is packed even in the late afternoon, thus 4 stars, but it is must see experience. Steep road down to the spa from the main road. Be careful especially on the moped. We did not bother with the man-made pool and headed down to the left, to the real deal. Path is well done. Change rooms available and then short walk to the small bay. Yes it us busy, but if you head to the far end you can avoid some of the close contact. And yes, the water is truly warm even though it is part of the ocean. Waves bring some welcome refreshing cold streams. It is very safe, as there are several ropes to hang too, needed be. Sharp rocks, easy to cut yourself walking. Bring flip-flops or sneakers. Note: don’t understand people snorkelling right there. Someone should tell them not to. If you intend to do it, pleas note that it is NOT a cool thing to there.
