This is a unique and captivating destination in the Azores. The beach’s dark, fine volcanic sand creates a striking contrast with the azure waters of the Atlantic Ocean, offering a dramatic and picturesque setting that is both exotic and visually stunning.
One of the most remarkable features of this beach is its natural beauty and the rugged volcanic landscape surrounding it. The black sand, a result of volcanic activity, adds an element of mystery and allure, making it a perfect spot for photography and nature appreciation. The sound of the waves crashing against the volcanic rocks enhances the serene and somewhat otherworldly ambiance of the beach.
The beach is relatively quiet and less crowded compared to other tourist spots, making it an ideal location for those seeking tranquility and a more intimate connection with nature. The clean and well-preserved environment reflects the efforts to maintain the natural beauty of this unique coastal area.
Swimming and sunbathing on this black sand beach are memorable experiences, thanks to the pleasant temperature of the water and the soft, warm sand underfoot. The beach also offers opportunities for beachcombing and exploring the fascinating volcanic rock formations along the shoreline.
However, visitors should be mindful of the occasional strong currents and waves, common in volcanic coastal areas, and take necessary precautions while swimming.
In summary, the black sand volcanic beach in front of Piscinas Municipais dos Pelames is a must-visit for anyone traveling to the Azores. Its unique landscape, serene atmosphere, and natural beauty make it a standout destination, providing a truly unforgettable...

My photos don’t show these things but there’s plenty of those pics so I’ve uploaded...
