• tell them you don’t want bread or cheese, they give it to you once you sit and it cost 5 euros (3 euros for 2 slices of s. Jorge cheese and 2 euros for small slices of plain bread), butter is also 0.8 euros. I figured this out maybe 1 minute late but did manage to tell them we don’t want the butter - saved 1.6 euros - oh yea* should’ve thoroughly read reviews before going so I didn’t end up spending my wine money haha.

Waiters were ok (might be a bit understaffed but they tried to make sure we were taken care of). We got the seafood rice dish for 2 - weird to have imitation crab in it (I did like the taste though - it was ‘light’ tasting - not salty).. good portions

Very clean appearance and a good place for lunch although there isn't much of a view of the square. I had a plate of Tuna Tataki prepared with the freshest tuna I have ever tasted, it was seared and with a slightly spiced taste and melted in your mouth. The dish was exceptional, if only I hadn't been driving I could have had a glass of red wine to really do the dish justice. Also there's enough tuna that if you wanted you could share between two people. We finished lunch with a local specialty of the Azores eclair which was a nice ending. p.s. The small restaurant in the center of Povoaçáo. We were off season and only customers. Staff was kind and helpful. Regional beef stole the heart of my boyfriend, my chicken was okay too. Right after we arrived we received a bread and cheese without ordering. I mean - we wanted to order appetizer anyway - it was a nice surprise to receive a starter.
