The value of the place is incontestable but the road to the location is horrible and the site is a work in progress. If you don't mind going through a stoney road with wild vegetation, than go for it. Also, if you are by car you will see on your right the Danube and on your left at some point the Medieval fortress of Severin. There are also some nice restaurants and the view is quite nice. At the foot of the bridge, if you look on the serbian shore you can see another foot of the bridge that was built after the daco-roman...

Unfortunately the site has no thrill to offer. It is not very well preserved and for sure not well put “in value”. If you use Waze or Google maps to rich for the location, as I did, you’ll have a unpleasant surprise: the directions will take you to a unpaved road, on the Danube side, and you’ll see the site from a unpleasant location. There is also the possibility to see it from up stairs, but for that you need to cross the railway. Conclusions: if you love history than you must check this location,...

Don't follow Google Maps on the road directly along the river - it will take you to a dirt road and you can't visit from there. Go through the visitor centre / museum marked just north of the bridge. The museum is very well organised and the staff are super nice - great to support places where historical landmarks are well cared for. Also very impressive to think how they built the bridge 2000 years ago!

So much history here (it's an amazing experience standing and picturing how the Romans built the bridge way back in 105 AD)... You can also see the other end of the bridge in Serbia 🇷🇸 standing right in Romania 🇷🇴. There's still archeological findings being explored around that area. You'd need to go through the museum before accessing the bridge.
