The remains of the Royal castle are from 16th century, although the castle was built on the place of the old Princely castle from 15th century. There's even data that there were fortified positions at this place from the 14th century. The 16th century Royal castle was built after Prince Petru Cercel's visit to the French king's castle, and deciding that the old castle was not according to his times. Thus, he ordered the construction of a new Princely residence of "fairly large size and good architecture". This castle is much more connected to the famous Vlad Tepes(the impaler), then castle Bran, which although a beautiful castle itself with a rich history, has no connection with the...

A must-see historical site in Romania! The Royal Court of Târgoviște is full of fascinating medieval charm, with well-preserved ruins, the iconic Chindia Tower, and a peaceful atmosphere that transports you back in time. The site is rich in history — once the residence of Vlad the Impaler — and there are informative signs in both Romanian and English that provide great context. The views from the top of the tower are stunning, especially at sunset. It’s not overly crowded, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for history buffs or anyone wanting a quiet and beautiful stroll...

Even though the star of the historical site is the Chindiei Tower, all of the buildings inside the museum are fascinating, especially the old church near the tower. The visitors can climb up the old staircase all the was to the roof. At each level of the tower there are a few images with text about the old rulers which marked the story of the tower (of course, Vlad the Impaler is featured a lot, but with interesting and accurate information). The view from the last level is worth the climb. You can see the whole town from up there as well as the surroundings. I loved every minute of it and would gladly...

A really nice thing to visit if you want to see more about historical ruins. That are still half complete. The basement itself is really fascinating to visit that they could build it like that. Also you can go through the ruins itself. And you can have a really nice view inside the tower. You can also see some artifacts from previous times in a building in the area itself. And the church in the beginning has some stunning frescoes preserved that are fantastic to watch.
