La Jolie Maison — Hotel in Târgoviște

We reserved the Deluxe Apartment on booking.com for 3 Adults. The offer said it included 1 double Bed, 2 Single Beds and 1 Sofa-Bed.

The apartment has 1 Main bedroom with a double bed and a sofa, 1 living room with a table, a sofa and a Sofa-Bed and 1 small room with two single beds (these two rooms are divided by a wooden wall, so noise isolation is not the best), a kitchen and a bathroom. So the apartment is big enough BUT full with surprises (I wish I could say they were good, but we were totally disappointed)

When we booked for 3 adults we were expecting also bed lines for at least 3 people, even though the apartment could be occupied for more people. (At least the description says they will provide them) Oh Surprise! Just the main room was prepared to sleep and with clean bed lines. We had to look everywhere until we found some dusty bed lines and for our surprise there was not mattress cover. So we had to cover the old dusty mattresses with towels so we could sleep there. And if it was not surprising enough, the pillows were so old and were full with sweat stains, we rather used our jackets as pillows.

The two single beds are squeaky, the mattresses are old, dusty and you sink until you feel the bed base. So don’t expect resting good and being fit next morning.

The Sofa-bed is squeaky, hard and unstable, it is impossible to sleep there. If you sleep in the middle you feel the division on your back, so be prepared for a bad back ache next morning. If you sleep on one side, the sofa will lose balance when you turn around and you might end up on the floor.

Privacy?? NO WAY!! The floor is also squeaky (they should name it “squeaky house” instead “Jolie Maison”) so you will notice when other people walks around the rooms and you can hear what is happening in the other rooms, kitchen, bathroom and even if the neighbor arrive and doesn’t find his keys.

Do you have children? Take care! There are cables without protection on the floor.

Do you have dust allergy? Be prepare for a nightmare with all the dust over the house and bring enough tissues with you!

The kitchen is big but also old. It has a small sink and a stove (we don’t know if it works because we didn’t use it). Some dishes and cutlery are provided. It has also a big refrigerator which is moldy and stink. There is also a table and some chairs, where by the way, we found some pistachio shells.

There is a bathroom with a toilet, washmachine (don’t know it it works) and a shower without courtain, so when you shower the water spills around.

The contact with the owner was via WhastApp, we arrived around 11pm without problems and finding a parking spot outside the house was easy.

The location is good, in around 10-15 min walking is the city center, main attractions and many restaurants.

This is so far is the worst place we have spend the night during our trip around Rumania and one of the most “expensive” apartments that we’ve rented. We don’t have anything against all furniture and houses if they are in good conditions and clean, but renting this place in such conditions and not even with enough clean bed lines it’s a theft.
