Challenging experience. If you are unable to haggle you will be taken advantage of.

There is artwork signed Diawlg. The work is on glass. I edited this review because I recently, months later found the missing items. The review said I was not given all the items I paid for. I may have been over charged but did get the items signed by Diawlg. The vendor next to him was trying to charge me $300 US for an African Dress. The dress was not custom made or silk. The only negative experience was the shopping with vendors. I went in March and despite not speaking the language and it being Ramadan I had a good time. Still be mindful...

Fun bit of local color. The market can be an overwhelming experience if you aren't used to markets in a third world country but is well worth a visit. Lots of locally made crafts and crafts imported from elsewhere in West Africa. The vendors are friendly if a but pushy. You will be everyone's friend and they will all make you a special deal that you can't tell anyone else about. And you will get to take home some reminders of your time in Senegal. The vendors always pay special attention to the kids and they will often go home with a trinket or two as a gift from a vendor from whom you are buying. ...

Excellent fresh fish. You have to come after 5 till late. Fresh fish is sold on the beach and on the stalls. They will clean it for you. Grilled fish is available at the far corner to the canal. Don't worry about the canal. Its fresh and clean. If your choice is not among you buy it and they grill it for you for a small fee. I love the grilled oysters and mussels. You can buy prawns, tiger prawns lobster and shrimp. Some women sell vegetables and salad to complete your dinner. At the petrol station opposite you...

Fish market - great to visit in the afternoon at ~4pm to watch the fishermen bring their boats onto the shore. The market itself is very smelly. Crafts market - sells a wide variety of classic souvenirs, including some wood carvings that are made onsite in the central part. Sells many wax fabric products too. Shopkeepers can be quite pushy, and you need to negotiate hard. I got some nice stuff here though.
