ActiveSG Gym @ Ang Mo Kio Community Centre — Attraction in Singapore

I've been going to AMK Gym for a while now without any issues, but recently, things took a disappointing turn. The moment my friend and I stepped in, we were greeted with a condescending tone. We were in the process of logging in and getting our passes ready when suddenly, a man in his 40s or 50s ( looked lean and has his hair slicked/ gelled back) approached us and asked, “Who are you all? Where are you from? Why didn’t you scan and go in already?” This caught us completely off guard, as we had just entered and were getting ready to scan. He continued to question us, “Why did the girl not scan and go in already?” At this point, we were even more confused because it was just the two of us, not a third person. Thankfully, a kind aunty working there clarified that the lady had gone to the toilet and wasn’t with us, which is why she hadn’t scanned in yet. Even after being corrected, this man didn’t apologise for his misunderstanding…instead, he tried to justify his actions. This kind of egotistical behaviour is not only frustrating but also incredibly disappointing.

As a member who’s always respected the rules and environment here, to be treated like this was completely out of line. The fact that someone in a position of authority couldn't even acknowledge their mistake or offer a simple apology, instead choosing to justify their rude and unnecessary actions, speaks volumes about the lack of respect they have for the people who frequent the gym. It's a shame to see such poor conduct from someone who should be setting a better example. This whole incident really leaves a bad taste, and it's hard to ignore how much it detracts from the otherwise positive experience I've had here.

However, I would still like to commend the sweet lady who works there, always greeting everyone with a warm smile and making us feel welcome. Her thoughtful intervention in clearing up the situation really helped diffuse the tension, and I truly appreciate her kindness and...

Feedback 2 years later on 20 April 2025 - After using this rundown place for almost 2 years, they are renovating the exterior areas and TOILETS! I hope these would be decent enough to use especially for these poor residents.. please employ better use of staff to run this place. Well….election is coming up in 2 weeks. Such timely coincidence.

Despite the so called renovated gyms, they somehow missed out the toilets. Got a rude shock when I entered. You’d be transported back to the 80’s. Dark, grimy and many other words to describe it. Where are we now, third world countries? ? And it’s quite far away from the gym, you will walk past many vacant, untouched areas inside the CC. The older staffs in the gym were plain rude. Need to go for social etiquette training. If you want to do something nice for the residents, do it...

Every weekend I send my child for swimming. While waiting for my child outside the pool I wanted to use the washroom and I ask the lady in red if I could use the toilet she told me to scan in. I’m ok to scan TraceTogether but she said I need to pay to enter as my kid is finishing his lesson I don’t think that just pay a dollar just to use the toilet is acceptable as I’m quite urgent.
