Pyramid — Attraction in Maribor

There is a small chapel at the top of this hill, you can see it as you go up.. The path to the top is winding which makes it easy to climb without losing your breath. You pass some tiny vineyards on your way, and most of the way there is no tree cover for shade. I counted 2, and I stopped at the last tree as it was super hot.. but wherever I reached the view was amazing and extraordinary.. would have been really nice if they added some benches for people to sit and breath the air and enjoy the moment! the view is nice and you'll probably have this place to yourself, so you can enjoy some peace and quiet. Cars and bikes are not allowed, so it’s a walking distance.. if you walk all the way from the town, there’s no sidewalk on the street...

One of the small hills bordering Maribor city to the north. It is called Pyramid due to its steep slopes which are now covered by a vineyard and a forest. The hill is significant for being the site of a previous medieval Maribor/Marburg fortress, the remnants of which are today an archeological site. A rather large chapel now stands at the hilltop, visible from afar. The viewpoint is excellent if one wants to look at the whole city, examine Pohorje mountain and have a glance southeast towards Croatia. Piramida in Maribor is a hill (386 m above sea level) above the city of Maribor in Slovenia, which is a popular excursion spot and offers a beautiful view of the city and the surrounding countryside. The climb up the Piramida is easy and takes about 20-30 minutes from the centre of Maribor.

On top of the hill stood the medieval Maribor Castle, which was built in the 12th century.

The castle was destroyed in 1784 and a chapel was built in its place, which still stands there today.
