Vino Žorž 1696/Winery Žorž — Attraction in Vipava

We stayed here two nights. The location is excellent, close to several wineries in a quiet town. The room was clean and functional. The breakfast was plentiful with fresh eggs cooked to order. The hostess was very nice and welcoming. We found the bed to be too hard, but understand that can be typical of this part of the world. For us it meant less than restful sleep. We had a wine tasting on the last night. Unfortunately the person doing the wine tasting was distracted by something and appeared to forget us for long periods at times. We made a visit to this winery because we were in the area that day at Postojna Cave. It was honestly one of our favorite experiences of our entire week in Slovenia. Anja greeted us warmly and led us into a beautiful dining room with local cheese and meats already set up. As we sampled her wines, she told us much about the region and how they produce the wine. We found it absolutely fascinating. I would HIGHLY recommend this wine tour. The Zelen is wonderful and I was surprised to find such a rich white wine. We had a amazing time at Zorz, it was easy to walk from our stay at hotel Majerija. Our wine tasting started at 16:00 and only around 20:00 we walked back. The winemaker himself told us lots about his wines and we loved (and that's rare) every one of his wines! We could not go away without buying enough wines to enjoy back home.
