The beach was not too crowded despite it still being holiday! The water was lovely and cool! People were putting up gazebos on the sand and others were just enjoying the view of the ocean! I enjoyed looking at the small school of tiny fish swimming quite lose to the shore! We walked from Muizenberg to St James which took us all of 20 minutes, soaked our feet while sitting on the rocks and then walked barefoot most of the way back to Muizenberg! All for the love of ocean and mountain views!

St James beach is famed for its colourful beach huts that regularly appear in South African tourism publicity. I love nothing better than to stay with a friend who lives across the road from the beach. Waking up is eagerly anticipated so I can cross the railway line for a walk on the pretty beach. St James is a little village with a number of restaurants nearby or take a picnic. The beach is popular with locals and children so it can get busy, especially during public holidays.

We arrived here to see the famous colorful beach sheds/huts/cabins and I'd say it was worth the trip (via car). The beach itself is very beautiful, and looked very inviting if the weather and water were warmer. If you wonder how to get here: locate the st. James beach train station, and on the left hand side of it (facing the beach) there is a little restaurant. Continue past it and you will find a little path that goes under the rails and into the beach.

Great beach for a quick swim and relaxing. Im an energy healing and auricular accupuncture therapist and often need to do some grounding. The water is warmer than other beaches and had a great grounding session with a few friends and clients. The energy level at St James is great. One feels rejuvenated after just being in the waters and relaxing and watching the waves. There is also ample parking along the main road and a slope just down to the beach. The train station is close by as well as quaint little shops for a lovely mini shopping spree including some restaurants for a quick bite to eat along the road. The beach itself is great for family outings, many schools go out and have the surfwalks or fun walks here and great for exploring the boulders along the beach when looking for mussels and other sea creatures who have created a home for themselves on the rocks. The tidal pool is great too and not deep for those wanting to take a dip. Further along there is lawn and some benches to sit and relax on to...

Shhh don't tell anyone; this is a great quiet beach for parents with small kids.

No surfers or other water sports to contend with. A little removed from any shops or restaurants. Usually nearby parking on the same side of the road. Trains come by occasionally which young kids love. Colourful murals are a handy distraction if your toddler chases down someone else's bucket or ball.

Comes with its own set of iconic colourful huts, lifeguards and sheltered man made tidal pool. The shallow water is often warmer than elsewhere. It's also nice and sheltered from the summer winds.

I honestly don't know why I'm writing this review and telling more people...

St James in Cape Town is a charming coastal area known for its iconic colorful beach huts lining the shoreline. The picturesque scenery, with the vibrant huts against the backdrop of the ocean and mountains, creates a postcard-worthy setting. The nearby cafes and restaurants add to the relaxed atmosphere, providing a pleasant experience for visitors. Overall, St James is a delightful spot to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of Cape...
