Virginia Bush Nature Reserve — Attraction in eThekwini Ward 36

Lovely quiet place to enjoy nature in the area. There is enough variation in the terrain to get something that everyone likes. Lots of rest spots along the various routes. Some routes need better maintenance but otherwise a lovely spot overall and staff is very friendly and helpful.

Tip: It's better to wear long bottoms. Bring your own water as there will be none along the routes. Monkeys are common so don't recommend bringing open...

Recently moved back from Johannesburg and is revisiting places of interest in Durban. I am quite disappointed considering knowing how much people are charged in rates and taxes here. Virginia bush nature reserve is small enough to easily walk around, with very clear paths, but big enough to escape the sounds of the city. On some paths you might hear the odd car or suburban noise (dogs from the neighbouring properties mostly). Great bird life. You see the odd duiker too. I spent around two hours in the reserve today and I think I only saw one other...
