Save for a guide to South Africa! 👇 South Africa only took about 2 hours to become one of my favorite countries. The nature, people, food, animals, is ALL incredible I’d recommend a minimum of 10 days, but 2.5 weeks would be better! Here’s how I break down 10 days: 🌈 4 days Cape Town Can’t Miss: Robben Island, day trip to West Coast National Park, cable car up Table Mountain for sunset, hike Lions Head, Camps Bay, Obi for lunch, 🍷 2 days Stellenbosh winelands Can’t Miss: Jordan Winery, Boschendal Winery 🐋 2 days Hermanus Can’t Miss: Cliff Path, Klipgat Caves, Voelklip Beach, Fick’s Restaurant 🦜 2 days Plettenburg Bay Can’t Miss: Whale Tail lookout, Robberg Peninsula Hike, Emily’s Moon River Lodge, Birds of Eden 🚗 the easiest way to get around is to rent a car! Just be prepared to drive on the left side of the road Follow for more detailed travel guides! #southafrica #southafricatravel #southafricatrip #southafrica🇿🇦 #capetown #bucketlist #traveltips

This is an excellent place to visit. It is huge and so beautifully and cleverly laid out with a river running through it and lovely feeling of space. Its R260 or slightly cheaper if you do a combo with monkey land. There are two small cafes as you near the end by the water birds. I had a nice coffee at the last cafe. I spent several hours at Birds of Eden and I loved it. If you are an avid bird watcher bring your binoculars too. I also saw a blue duiker when sitting quietly watching a golden pheasant. I highly recommend the id book as it helped alot as many of the birds are rescued exotics and its so interesting to learn more about these international birds. If you sit quietly by the bird feeders you can see alot of birds up close. The birds are so lovely to watch and there are benches throughout in which you can sit and spend more time watching. I enjoyed these spots for also looking further away too at different birds with my binoculars. I had an unfortunate encounter with an aggressive female eclectus parrot who chased the family in front of me by biting their feet on the boardwalk and then attached itself to my finger when I tried to get past. I think this is unusual however and the staff said they were going to do something about it.

It was an amazing experience. It is a short walk through n netted park which allows the birds to roam freely. You can buy a single or combo ticket with Monkeyland and enjoy both parks in the same morning as they are located right next to each other. We enjoyed strolling along the walkways and watching the birds eat, interact and fly. There is a no touch/don't feed policy which is great. It is wheelchair compatible although you need to have some strong arms for the inclines and also for the downhills. There is a small cafe with great eats and drinks (and a liquor license) which I highly recommend to support. The prices are very competitive and I have included menu shots. Bathrooms are place at the min entrance and about the centre of the park. There are small alcoves to sit and watch the birds and you can buy a bird guide for R20 at the entrance. There is also a curious shop. I would definitely visit again.

A spectacular place to visit! One of the best sanctuaries in South Africa with around 200 bird species freely flying in a very spacious closed aviary about 3 hectares large and up to 60 m high. Though the feeling is that it is larger since the walkway zigzag across the park on different levels. It is very pleasant just to stroll along the walkways and watch for the birds, or to sit on one of tens of the benches standing here and there. The bird reference guide is available at the entrance for R20, thus it is possible to determine any bird species you encounter. Binocular could be helpful, since the aviary is huge. There is a nice small restaurant inside with a good choice of dishes with many vegetarian options and very competitive prices.

Definitely one of our favourite visits during our honeymoon! Neither of us are avid bird watchers, but it was a wonderful experience regardless. We bought a combo ticket which allowed access to Birds of Eden, Monkeyland and Jukani. We would however not recommend the other two - we just don't enjoy guided tours (Monkeyland) and seeing big cats in small enclosures, knowing the vast ranges they occupy in nature (Jukani) just did not sit well woth us. Birds of Eden was amazing! The walkway in the avery starts at the bottom. There's a significant difference in bird species and diversity as you follow the walkway to the top. Beautiful birds! And you can get quite close to them.
