My wife and I had the most incredible weekend at Chamonix in Franschhoek, and I cannot recommend it enough! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the beauty of the wine farm, the warm atmosphere, and the attention to detail that made our stay unforgettable.

A special mention must go to our host, Brywell — what an absolute star! He went over and above to make sure we were comfortable, accommodated, and completely at ease. His engaging personality, genuine hospitality, and willingness to make everything perfect for us truly stood out. This man deserves recognition and a raise — he is a 10/10 host and an absolute asset to the Chamonix team.

We also enjoyed the wine tasting experience, which was nothing short of fantastic. Each wine was a delight, and the pairing of snacks and goodies elevated the experience even further. I have to single out the chicken sliders with coleslaw — absolutely delicious and something I’m still craving!

Overall, Chamonix delivered on every level: beautiful surroundings, exceptional wine, delicious food, and world-class service. We left feeling not only relaxed and happy but also truly cared for.

We’ll be recommending Chamonix to friends, family, and colleagues — and I’ll definitely be sharing our experience on social media. If you’re considering a visit, don’t think twice — this is the...

Sitting high above the Franschhoek Valley in the heart of the Cape Winelands, you will find a charming wine farm like no other, nestled on the eastern slopes of the Franschhoek Mountains. The farm dates back to 1688, and once formed part of the Huguenot Estate, La Cotte.

The tasting room or “The Blacksmith's Cottage" is authentic, built in the late 18th century now converted into a comfortable tasting room. We have visited on a few occasions, but on this occasion the couch in front of the age-old fire place was available, so we opted for the cosy seat together with the reserve tasting of 5 wines.

The wines are downright AMAZING. The Pinot Noir was my winner for the day, although we did purchase some of the Cab Frank as it had just won a best Cab Frank award and I believe in a few years the wine will show beautifully. We further grabbed a case (or two) or the Chamonix Rouge, it is drinking seamlessly; well structured and smooth with dark fruit, especially well priced for what’s in the bottle.

There were some cheese platters (R155) and charcuterie platters (R210) on offer but we were off to lunch in the Valley. Definitely going back to eat at Arkeste in time to come, I have followed Richard Carstens culinary genius for some years, and it always...

Quite esquisite and comfortable place. Everyone was very friendly and The food was divine. We didn't stayed at the place or did The Wine tour (since we already did several of these tours), we chose to only stay at the restaurant and Enjoy the place. Everything was excelent. The menu offered just 4 options of main courses, but what it seems to lack in variety, it really compensates on the quality. There's also a vegetarian options which in no way falls behind the meats. Desserts are well harmonized and The coffe has its grains grinded almost in front of you. We ordered two wines, The first one we tried to chose and The second one we ask for a recommendation (The first was good, but be should have listened The staff from de begining - hahahaha). In the end, a lunch with 2 good wines, 2 entres, 3 main courses, 2 desserts and 1 espresso was around 500 rand (tip included). Totally worth it.
