After looking for a wine estate with a cozy ambience, aka fireplace we decided on Longridge Wine Estate for a baby shower after receiving good reviews. On the day, Saturday 2 July 2022, we were seated on the patio which looked beautiful, however, was wet with raindrops falling through the ceiling. I advised the staff that it was literally raining on us. The response we received was a mere sorry. After insisting that we are paying customers who booked in advance we found a table and asked them to relocate us.. Still on the patio though which was cold on a stormy Cape Town Saturday. If things couldn't have gotten worse, the waiters seemed to suffer from jet lag as it appeared dysfunctional when the cheese platter arrived without a cheese knife or spoons to dish the compote. The pizza was the wrong order, the pork belly pizza was dry and tasteless and drinks orders were wrong.. Up to the end when I ordered a take away coffee and received a latte, which I don't drink. It's really a pity about this experience which literally left a dampener on the event. The food in general was acceptable but service should have been much better considering the place is fairly quiet. Im dissatisfied because I expected more from a restaurant that was running on full capacity. No sense of solution finding without a complaint or prompt from the table. Franklin and team,...
Read moreLongridge has been a favorite spot to go to for breakfast and lunch for us for some time now, however our last trip there was sadly dampened by a very odd business decision. After our breakfast we opted to do a tasting as a group of friends of ours where in the area and wanted to join. But as we relocated to the tasting room, all was shut, even though the wait staff ensured us it was open, it finally was revealed that they now close the tasting room for a couple hours on a Sunday to cater to one group wanting to do a food and wine pairing. This sadly highlighted that the wait staff are not adequately informed to pass on accurate information to clients as to which services are available on the day, secondly the tasting room seems to be woefully understaffed, because they can only handle a single group at a time for the food and wine pairing, which happens at the restaurant, not the tasting room.
We will still return to longridge, but this business decision to suspend tasting room services because of one group is indeed odd and on our visit did result in loss of sales from clients being...
Read moreToday, 31 Dec 2022, was my first time at Longridge wine estate...what a horrible experience despite the great views.
We received tea with no spoons and no sugar on the table - I had to ask for this. We waited close to an hour for our breakfast. The excuse was that the kitchen was busy with an order from a big table however the waiter never once checked up on us in that waiting time or informed us about the delay of the food. When food arrived, it was cold. My existing tea (still the first pot) was cold already and the other's tea was up already with no-one asking if they wanted a refill. There was no salt and pepper was on the table and we had to ask for this. We received scones, but without butter and cutlery. I waited 10 minutes and had to request this. At no point did I even get asked if I wanted another cup of tea that I just requested water instead when I eventually found my waiter again.
Based on the above, I am not sure I will be visiting this place again despite the views that are fantastic. The one star is based on the...
