Perfect 4 hr trail. 3 hrs maybe if you never stop for a break. And yes, it is true that you get lost! The map is hard to read. But that’s part of the fun. You walk all the time on the high plateau, so you always see all the landmarks. As other have said, in the end you just walk back to the starting point, across the veld. Technically it’s an easy trail. Challenges are the heat, the sun, and mud. In summer you need 2l of water per person - they sell at the gate, but stock is limited. If you get lost too much, it might get a bit more difficult to work your way up over boulders again, but still nothing hectic. Suggest to bring a GPS app with a basic topographic map, and which records your progress as a breadcrumb trail (no, Google Maps doesn’t do that). Then you should be fine.
