Lovely in shaded nature. Quite and wholesome. The contour path follows the curves of Table Mountain all the way from Tafelberg Road past the cable car station to Constantia Nek. You can take your dog along, on a leash untill (+- 5 minutes from parking area) high ground and then they can roam free. Pick up #2 is the rule. The Newlands Forest section is particularly well maintained with its wooden boardwalks and elevated picnic area amongst the trees. (The hiking trail not to be confused with the Newlands Forest picnic area which is a different public area next to the Newlands Forest Hiking trail parking area) Dogs enjoy splashing in the stream running through the woods and they may drink their fill from the stream. SANPARK fire fighters operate from the close by Heliport. Basic ablution facilities available. TAKE NOTE: Occasional fairy sightings ðŸĪŠðŸ§šðŸŧ‍♀ There are countless hiking trails to explore. A very good and solid golden rule, NEVER...

Easy enjoyable walking trail partially in shade as the path runs through the forest. Options to branch off onto more challenging and strenuous paths presents along the way allowing one to choose the path that best suits your need.

The down side for me was the amount of dogs on the trail. Although most times dog owners were amazing and ensured that others on the trail are not disturbed or inconvenienced in any way.

Friendly fellow walkers/hikers added to the joy of the experience.

I would certainly recomend Newlands forrest as a casual, impactful walk as well as a satisfying hiking experience depending on the...

Gorgeous, soulful, rejuvenating and a the most gentle and peaceful experience. All this right next door to a city. Sure, its as busy as NYC but city life is city life and having a large piece of nurturing nature to duck away into is absolutely fabulous.

Streams running, river pools, bird life and, higher up, there are breathtaking views.

The TMNP's collection of nature reserves are the most precious offering to the citizens of the Western Cape. Here we are reminded of the true values of life and this is what differentiates are quality of life from other...

A beautiful forest with several trails. It's dog friendly but you must have a permit otherwise you at risk of getting fined when the wardens do checks. Several little streams after the rains. Wear good walking shoes as shine of the paths are rocky and slippery. The forest provides lovely tree shade but there are parts that are open. Take water, hat and don't forget sunscreen.

We walked up to the blockhouse. The views are stunning!! Path was a bit steep, but I'm just unfit. It was really worth it going up. If you're unfit like me just take it slow and rest if you feel you need to. I will definitely be trying it again. It's a nice hike and downhill back to the car was much faster. We went in a group, I felt safe.
