Kirstenbosch Gardens from Newlands Forest through the Yellow Wood Trail is an awesome, scenic walk through the woods. Gentle, easy and very safe and well signaged will get you there and back in two hours. Late breakfast can be enjoyed in the Garden before heading back. You will have to report to reception for cover charge of you going to walk around in the gardens. Start at Newlands forest and follow the trail to the left once you pass the Heli pad. You have options of going straight up to the contour path from the Yellow Wood Trail, and then back down to the Gardens if you looking to get the heart rate up. Amazing views of the Cape Flats can be observed as far as the eye can see. . All in all its an enjoyable walk or hike, suitable for children, and elders. Pack accordingly and dress appropriately and don't forget to check the weather report. Very important. Dogs, bikers and runners share the trail but it's enough space for everyone to enjoy. Just surrender yourself to nature and all that it offer. Lovely, relaxing spots along the way, to rest, take in the beauty, meditate and connect. So get out there...

You can't beleive that Cavendish Mall is down the road from here because this feels like you are 100s of miles away.
The firest offers plenty of facilities, but the highlight is clearly the hike which caters to a variety of fitness levels and times.
You can take a casual 20 minutes troll, or walk from here all the way into Cape Town centre if you're feeling energetic.
People are super friendly and willing to help, offer guidance and even allow you to join their walking group if you're feeling unsure.
That said, it's not a good idea to walk by yourself.
Paths are well-marked and there are plenty of trees to provide shade on hot days.

Try to always hike in a group and be aware of safety against crime, as on all the mountains.
Do keep an eye out for bark stripping and report to authorities if you notice anyone busy with this illegal activity which damages indigenous trees and can cause trees hundreds of years old to die off prematurely.
