The Old Biscuit Mill Market is a vibrant and bustling hub that captures the essence of Cape Town’s creative and culinary spirit. Nestled in the heart of Woodstock, this market is a must-visit for food lovers, art enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a lively weekend outing. The atmosphere is electric, with a mix of locals and tourists coming together to enjoy the best of what the city has to offer.
One of the standout features of the market is its incredible food stalls. From artisanal baked goods to exotic international dishes, there’s something to satisfy every craving. On my visit, I couldn’t resist trying the famous burgers from one of the on-site burger restaurants. The burger was a masterpiece—juicy, flavorful, and perfectly crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The combination of the smoky patty, melted cheese, and house-made sauce was unforgettable, and it’s easy to see why this spot has such a loyal following.
Beyond the food, what truly makes the Old Biscuit Mill Market special is its friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The vendors are passionate about their offerings and always happy to chat about their products. Whether you’re sampling gourmet cheeses, sipping on locally roasted coffee, or browsing handmade crafts, the sense of community is palpable. The market’s rustic charm, with its exposed brick walls and industrial decor, adds to the overall experience, making it a feast for the senses.
The Old Biscuit Mill Market is more than just a place to eat—it’s a celebration of creativity, culture, and connection. Whether you’re grabbing a bite, shopping for unique finds, or simply soaking in the lively vibe, this market is a Cape Town treasure. If you’re in the area, don’t miss it. You’ll leave with a full stomach, a smile on your face, and memories to...
Read moreI visited Old Biscuit Mill today because I’m recently retired and my car was being serviced close by. I rocked up at 8.05 am and received a hostile and intimidating stare from the security guard. He obviously has to discourage the locals with his glare but I’m a 65 year retired teacher and felt offended. I said nothing and went to sit on a yellow couch waiting for Redemption Burgers to open. I had a delicious and memorable breakfast and then visited each shop. All the shop assistants were kind, friendly and helpful but the prices were obviously geared for those with dollars, euros and pounds.
I left the centre to buy some much needed items from local shops close by. They were clearly more affordable and great value for money. When I returned to the centre the security guard asked me why I am coming back as I have been there all day. I said nothing but felt that I was profiled and was being discriminated against.
I returned to buy lunch but by this time Redemption Burgers were swamped so I decided not to eat there. I returned to the yellow couch to rest for a few minutes as my car was not yet ready. After a few minutes the shop assistant asked me to leave as they discouraged people from sitting around. He did this abruptly and rudely. I was deeply offended and angrily shouted at him that he was rude and could have asked me politely and respectfully to leave. He called the security guard and I decided to leave. I then told the security guard how I felt about his hostility and intimidation.
This centre clearly serves well heeled tourists but needs to remember that the locals and especially the elderly deserve to be treated with dignity...
