과거 조선 은행 건물 일본이 한국에서 나간 뒤 해당 건물이 예식장, 무도회장(?)을 거치고 현재 건축관으로 사용하고 있다. 내부는 리모델링이 잘되어서 굉장히 고급진 곳에 온 느낌이 들었다. (리모델링 과정은 2층에 전시되어 있다.) 이 곳에서 가장 신기했던 건 조선 은행이 사용한 지폐와 동전들인데 최근 세계를 여행하면서 각 국의 통화를 하나씩 수집하고 있는데 정말 가지고 싶었다. * 군산에서 가장 인상 깊었던 곳 중 한 곳 * 볼거리는 빨리 본다면 5분 안에 끝날 정도로 많이 있지는 않다.

1876년 강화도조약으로 조선이 개항한 후 1879년 부산에 처음 진출한 일본의 제일은행 후신이 조선은행이다. 1909년 대한제국의 국책은행으로 설립된 구 한국은행이 조선은행을 인계받았으나, 일한병합 이후 총독부가 다시 조선은행으로 개칭하여 직속 금융기관으로 삼았다. 조선은행 군산지점은 1923년 나카무라 요시헤이가 설계하였다. 건축적으로는 정면의 아치와 붉은색 벽돌의 외벽, 우진각 지붕의 2층 건물로 외부에서 보면 4층 건물 높이이다. 문학적으로는 채만식의 소설 에서 여주인공 정초봉의 몰염치한 남편 고태수가 근무하던 은행으로 등장하기도 한다. 2008년 보수와 복원을 거쳐 현재 군산...

100년이 넘은 이 건물은 일본이 조선을 수탈하기 위한 중앙은행 역할을 했습니다. 겉면은 일본이 서양에서 받아들인 르네상스 양식을 재해석한 형태이고 지붕은 에도시대의 전통양식으로 특이하게 지어져 있습니다. 해방 이후 은행은 폐쇄되고 관리가 되지않아 나이트클럽으로 사용되기도 하였으나 시에서 다시 구매하여 복원하였습니다. 안쪽은 나이트클럽을 만들기 위한 보조 트러스트 구조물이 있으나 그것 또한 이 건물이 간직한 역사로 보존되어 있습니다. "역사를 잊은 민족에게 미래는 없다."...
