Gyeongju World Car Museum — Attraction in Gyeongju-si

This place is much smaller than what you might expect from the name. As for the collection of cars here... They are memorable, if not exactly impressive. There are some famous cars here from movies or cars that are milestones in automobile history. It's just that most of them are replicas, and that the presentation was pretty bare bones basic for most. It's also politically very right wing centric, which will be offensive to some.

All that said, even a collection of replicas are not exactly cheap; so I think this place still has some merit. I don't know of many places in Korea that offer this kind of experience. Just curve your expectations accordingly.

To sum up: this place is not exactly suitable for automobile enthusiasts. But young kids who are just starting to get into cars will get a kick out of this place.

P.S. The top floor also has a small are for the little ones to play in. The ball pit and the wooden cube pit are not exactly in the tip top shape; there's a lot of wear and some tears, even. But there's very little here that could go seriously wrong. In contrast, the main crawl space play area was very solid. No loose nets or torn harness to be found anywhere. I was very pleasantly surprised.

이름이 거창한것에 비해선 작은 편입니다만 구성 자체는 나쁘지 않습니다. 자동차 역사에서 주목할만한 차들도 있었고 영화 등으로 유명해진 차들도 있었어요. 문제라면 이게 대부분 레플리카라는 것 정도겠네요. 하지만 아무리 레플리카라고 해도 이 규모로 전시하는게 쌀 리도 없고 국내에 이런 컨셉을 전시해 놓은 공간도 제가 아는 한에선 많지 않으니 개인적으로는 나쁘지 않았습니다.

요약하자면 하드코어한 자동차 매니아를 위한 공간은 아닙니다. 오히려 이제 막 자동차에 관심을 가지기 시작하는 어린이들에겐 좋은 경험이 될 법한 장소에요.

정치적으로는 상당히 우측에 편향되어 있습니다. 이것도 오시기 전에 참고하세요.

추신 - 3층에는 아이들이 놀 수 있는 공간이 있습니다. 상대적으로 안전한 공간은 좀 관리가 소홀한거 같아 보이긴 했는데, 아이가 다칠 가능성이 있는 메인 놀이기구쪽은 상당히 꼼꼼하게 관리되고 있는 듯 했습니다. 그물 같은것도 늘너진 곳이 없고 패딩 등도 터진 곳 없이 잘 관리되어 있더군요. 인원과 자원이 한정되어...

As a car enthusiast I’m always keen on checking out motoring museums. They had done great vehicles on display and a great variety. Would have been nice if more was written in English and mostly Korean (Google translate can be time consuming) and the cars could have used a bit of a clean. Ticket purchase is required. There's is free parking lot around but I recommend that you come visit on weekdays, as everything is crowded on weekends and holidays. There is a souvenir shop with several options for model cars. They are expensive and if you are a collector like me, you will suffer here as the variety and choice of pieces is great.
