천태종 총본산이 구인사 직할 사찰인 대광사 천태종이 2003년 전운덕 청무원장이 불사를 6월 12일 시작하여 12년만에 완성하였다. 국내 최대 미륵보전이다. 대목장인 신응수가 건축을 감수했다. 높이가 33m로 (3층-1층 용화화상 2층-미륵보전 3층-도솔천궁)이라고 각층마다 현판이 인상적이다. 미륵보전은 석가모니가 열반에 든 후 56억 7000년 후에 나타나 중생을 구제한다는 미래부처이다. 도시인들의 휴식처와 명상을 할 수 있도록 대학도 운영하고 도시에서 가까운 힐링의 명소로 알려져 있다.
