super duper cool. totally recommend for small kids. surprisingly interactive and well designed. if you're a foreigner, remember to charge your phones so u can translate the image descriptions on the walls (mostly everything in Koreann) They give u a paper to stamp the different locations you go to and there's even a free bracelet making station in one of the buildings. additionally, it teaches about water usage and how to conserve water in our own homes. also, everything's FREE! which is super duper cool. overall, totally recommend if you're traveling with kids and it's a worthwhile experience if you're interested...

This place is a hidden treasure for anyone who is interested in Seoul's water system and its history. We rarely think about city systems and their massive personal and social benefits, so this museum provides the opportunity to take a breath (sip?) and ponder. 한국 최초의 근대적 상수도 생산시설인 뚝도수원지 제1정수장을 복원, 정비하여 2008년 4월 24일 개관하였다. 서울특별시 상수도사업본부가 운영하며, 운영 목적은 초기 상수도 생산시설과 관련된 유물들을 체계적으로 수집·전시·보존하여 상수도의 역사와 가치에 대한 이해를 증진하고 서울시 수돗물 아리수의 생산과정별 현장견학을 통하여 신뢰를 높이는 데 있다.

뚝섬수원지 제1정수장은 조선 말기인 1903년 고종이 미국인 헨리 콜브란(Henry Collbran)과 해리 보스트윅(Harry R. Bostwick)에게 상수도 부설 경영을 허가하여 1906년 8월에 기공된 뒤 1908년 8월에 준공되어 그해 9월 1일부터 한국 최초로 수돗물을 생산, 공급하기 시작한 곳이다.

박물관 본관으로 이용되는 이 건물은 벽돌과 기와를 사용한 지상 1층의 조적식(組積式) 구조 건물로서 입구에는 화강암 소재의 아치형 문틀을, 좌우에는 아치형 창틀을 설치하였다. 근대식 건축물의 특징이 잘 나타나 있어 완속여과지와 함께 서울시 유형문화재 제72호로 지정되었다. 내부는 옛 정수시설과 상수도 100년 역사를 담은 사진 등이 전시되어 있다.

본관 외에 별관과 물과환경전시관, 완속여과지, 야외 전시장과 체험시설, 뚝도아리수정수센터 등으로 이루어져 있다. 별관은 지금까지의 상수도 관련 문화와 기술의 성장·발전 과정을 관련 전시물을 통하여 비교·소개하고 있으며, 미래의 수돗물 변천과정을 담은 영상물 등이 마련되어 있다.

물과환경전시관은 물과 환경, 물과 인체, 물과 생활 등 물의 소중함을 일깨워주는 주제로 구성되어 있다. 완속여과지는 1908년부터 1990년까지 실제로 사용된 시설을 복원하여 현장체험의 공간으로 활용하고 있다. 야외 전시장에는 각종 펌프류와 수도관류 등 1920년대부터 최근까지 사용되던 기계설비 등을 전시하여 상수도 기술의 변천사를 볼 수 있도록 하였고, 우물·작두펌프·물지게 등...
