Castell de Capdepera has a long story. It's a beguiling history mixture of the Roman period, Moorish period, and finally Spanish period. The stronghold has always been here. It started with the Roman Empire. Next, improved by Moors. Ultimately expanded by the Spaniards in the middle ages to the size of a defensive castle. The hill of the castle reaches 427 ft a.s.l (circa). It towers over the city and its surroundings. It was a proper observatory deck in the past time. Due to this reason, the bells over the castle chapel in the Middle Ages played a liturgical and alarm function when the Capdepera was in danger. Places worth visiting. Especially for all history buffs but not only. A toilet is available. The Castle de Capdepera is well maintained. It is worth taking the time to visit. A free car park is reachable in the city centre. Five minutes walk to the castle. In July 2021, not be crowded. Payment only in the machine accepting money (notes and coins acceptable / no payment by card). Time of visit? The place captivates with silence and a beautiful overview - so individual matter. Read moreUpon arrival, I was initially disheartened to discover that the opening hours were different from what I had found on Google Maps. However, it is important to note that discrepancies in operating hours can occur, and it is advisable to double-check the castle's official website or contact them directly for the most up-to-date information. Despite this setback, I managed to enjoy the castle's exterior, which was still a sight to behold.
The well-preserved exterior walls, imposing towers, and ancient battlements evoke a sense of awe and wonder. Exploring the castle grounds, I found myself meandering through the narrow pathways, marveling at the intricate stonework and imagining the historical events that unfolded within these very walls. The castle's strategic location provided a vantage point to monitor and protect the surrounding region, offering a glimpse into its past...
Read moreAwwwww this is a nice find and gives you an idea of how life was during this time. I’ve been here a couple of times now and each time it has been quiet and peaceful. The views from this castle are magnificent and can see for miles, perfect photo opportunity. I like this castle as it has a mini museum within describing what life was like and also models of how this castle just grew and grew over time. The entrance fee is only €3 each which is more then reasonable. You would expect to stay here for about an hour and could of been longer if they had a coffee shop to relax whilst taking in the surroundings. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Word of warning, there is some building work going on at the moment but this shouldn’t interfere with your...
