The location of the restaurant and the general atmosphere are really nice. We came with the good mood hoping we’re gonna experience some nice flavours. Unfortunately it was a big disappointment from the very beginning. After aperitivo, we received a wine card and I asked for a cocktail’s menu. After a while I asked again for the menu, but no one brought it, plus no one came back to us to ask did we choose any wine. The starter, an avocado with feta cheese and shrimps was ok, but the local shrimps had a muddy taste. I can live with that. For the second dish my wife went with Risotto with truffle and pecorino cheese. The taste of it was weird, felt like the cheese was smoked and killed the taste of the truffle. It definitely wasn’t a proper risotto dish. I went for a safe option: fish&chips. Unfortunately I received a fish, which was ok, with crisps on it. Seriously? A while after, a waiter came to our table and asked “ok, what happened”(the food was still on the plate)? We said that the risotto dish wasn’t good. He took the plates and we were left only with our water. No one asked for the dessert or another glass of wine. I had to ask another waiter for a check and we left. At the end the waiter who took our plates was apologising us for a dish, but we didn’t get any recompensation. “Sorry” is not enough. In my opinion the problem with that restaurant is that there isn’t any manager who could take a responsibility for it. It’s obvious that the waiter cannot decide about any discount for the client. There is also a lack of organisation and the waiters aren’t assigned to the...
Read moreWe have been in covanegra on our last day of holiday. I booked this restaurant to have a special ending to our vacation. All in one we liked the food, and had a great evening on the beautiful terrace of this restaurant. However the service was not on the level of the restaurant and the seabass was so salty that only part of it could be eaten. The service was very inconsistent as we asked several times for several things, such as olive oil or pepper, which was forgotten every time. Unfortunately it never happened that a waiter came to our table to ask if everything was alright, especially when the over-salted fish was served, it was way too much effort to call someone to our table as there was no Organisation of the service. When the main course was taken away we let the waiter know about the fish, which we partly had to leave on the plate, however they didn’t take any further measures. The waiters where not allocated to specific tables, which made it very hard to communicate with someone in charge. The best waitress by far was the Mexican young lady, who was very friendly and customer driven. At checkout we mentioned our dissatisfaction with the seabass again, which was charged 70€ for 2 people, however this was totally ignored. Overall, we had a good dinner and we enjoyed our last evening, although it would have been much better and satisfying if these issues would have taken care of and not totally ignored by the restaurant. We are a very easy to handle family, but for the price we paid (410€), we also expect a good service and a correct reaction to complaints. (At...
Read moreDuring our recent stay at Hotel Creu de Tau, we had the pleasure of dining at Cova Negra not once, but twice.
The menu offered a delightful fusion of creativity, flavors, and comfort, with each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. We were particularly impressed by two appetizers, specifically the exquisite steak tartare and the foie gras, which set the perfect tone for each meal.
On one evening, we indulged in the Angus ribeye, cooked to perfection—flaky, juicy, and beautifully complemented by a creamy celery purée. On our final evening we chose the beef tenderloin "à la poivre” and the monk fish in tempura. Both were expertly seasoned, cooked to perfection, beautifully plated, with great texture and flavors!
The ambiance at Cova Negra is enchanting, enhanced by the attentive service, wonderful smiles, kindness and standout personalities of Adriana and Ana. The soft, intimate lighting, coupled with breathtaking views of the castle, and mountains, was the perfect backdrop for a romantic evening.
If you're seeking an exceptional dining experience that combines exquisite cuisine, a charming ambiance, attentive service, and stunning views of the castle, look no further than Cova Negra. Highly...
