The beach is a mix of black sand and small black pebbles – walking on it and lying down are not very comfortable. During low tide, when the ocean recedes, many rocks and stones are exposed. At that time, getting in and out of the water becomes quite difficult, and staying in the water is uncomfortable because you’re not stepping on sand, but on slippery rocks. You constantly have to keep your balance to avoid slipping and getting hurt. At the end of May, the showers weren’t working, so it wasn’t possible to rinse off after the beach. The beach itself was relatively clean, but there was a lot of seaweed. Overall, I didn’t enjoy it.

Came here on a windy day. The cove calms the water down, there's some shelter from the wind behind the promenade walls. Nice promenade. Plenty of parking. No toilets and showers not working though.

Must have been a sleepy fishing village at some point, it now offers a nice beach with a good promenade. It's the perfect place to come if you want to be close to the capital, Puerto de la Cruz and escape the busy South. Temperatures somewhat cooler than the South...
