All in all not really a great place to visit. First of all : we are all doing effort to help the planet to avoid plastic waist and what do we see allover this aquarium? Right . Plastic plants . Literally everywhere.
Also, the whole design of the interior is old fashion. Have a look in the aquarium in Lisbon guys , and tune up your aquarium.
The area in front of this building is empty , concreet plaza without any trees , no green scenery… not one single bench to have a seat. The overall impression is abandoned. Those neighbours , empty thus dirty looking apts don’t help brighter.
The front facade could be much prettier if it was maintained. The aluminium or inox facade has something written on it but you can’t see what.
Outside there is some sort of water pound as the building stands on Poles .. great idea but don’t see the point of this unless you have something going on in that puddle like sealions or koi or other sealife …
When you arrive by car : there is no parking . When you ask the staff about that , their answer is a simple no . The restaurant we did not even bother .
We where the only guest throughout our visit. That says it all I guess.
It’s a bit outside the center and I saw some flags throughout the boulevard to attract peoples attention and also some floor painted turtle but you need to attract in another way. Why not a sort of a stand with a live person right on the beach or center to sell tickets , some hosts dressed as turtle or so to draw attention of...
Read moreI love this place! It is located 5 minutes walking from the center of Gijón, or 2 minutes from the railway museum and parking. It is an aquarium where you can notice the love of the people who are working there. Everything is tidy and clean. The decoration hand made and beautiful. I had a small aquarium for 4 years so i can tell you that the animals were living in perfect conditions. I really enjoyed the information I received about the invasive species and their effects. It is not massive, but it is lovely, it is not an aquarium where you can walk inside a túnel or they do not have crocodiles or penguins or otters but they have tiger sharks and amazing turtles. But they have Axolotl that for me was a huge surprise. If you are in the area visit this place. It worths every cent. I can not wait...
Read moreI didn't expect much from this place, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's good on different levels. It starts from kind English speaking staff. Then you start the rout. And they managed to gently immerse you, little by little, into the bio world. Whoever designed the park did an incredible job. "Well, that was very nice. Probably that's it", you think. And then you get to another level of the park, that is even more impressive. Then you think, "For sure, now that's the end. What else could they show". But again they manage to show even more.
By far that was the best place I visited in Gijón. And I will definitely visit again.
Also it has areas where you can sit and just relax watching the aquarium. And there are several clean bathrooms...
